BigJap 0 #1 May 2, 2006 I put about 20-30 jumps on my Katana 120 (loaded at 2.0) and I've only been doing slow 180's, loading to one side and stopping the turn with input on the other front riser. I stay on both for a couple seconds and then going to rears. Does it help to lean forward in the harness at the top of the dive to assist with building up speed? I only do it cause I have 24 inch risers on mine and it makes pulling on the risers easier since I am hanging and not pulling while diving so how abotu tghis whatever boats your float man Davehttp://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. BigJap 0 #3 May 2, 2006 K. I actually have 27" risers because I'm pretty tall and fly camera. I think that leaning forward would be an inaccurate description of what I want to do in the harness. Does sweeping the legs back help? I'm sure it does because it reduces drag.

CanuckInUSA 0 #5 May 2, 2006 Quote A good search of the forums might help as this has all been hashed out before. Lately I've had to lean forward just to see over my ever increasing beer belly. 6+ months of rain on almost a daily basis (plus the growing appetite for beer) has helped me gain some extra weight this year (hopefully I can keep in check somewhat now that summer is around the corner). But hey if I can't load up with a weight belt, at least I can load up the beer belly. Now what does this have to do with the topic at hand. Side note- It's going to be hilariously gay when Spizzzarko cannot reach his slider on his first jump after installing the 24s....that is if he doesn't cut away. -We are the Swoophaters. CanuckInUSA 0 #18 May 9, 2006 QuoteIt was wierd actully having the slider up there on my reserve this weekend. I had forgotten how loud those damn things are. I take it your Velo tried to kill you this last weekend? What happened? Was it a terminal jump or a sub-terminal flop and pop? Plus hopefully your gear landed away from the tractors this time. I've managed to make two skydives (both sub-terminal) since my JVX tried to kill me after a terminal opening. So now I have a new meaning when I say "freefall scares me". QuoteSliders are gay, and mooth. Seems that you and Ryan are obsessed with being gay lately. Are you guys secret lovers or something? What does your wife say about all that time you've been spending with the guy? I know, she just says "that's gay". Spizzzarko 0 #19 May 9, 2006 It wasn't the velocity that tried to kill me it was the damn pull out deployment I have. The main pilot chute was horse shoed or stuck on something back there. SO I cut away and fired the reserve. The PD-113 opens rapidly, but it flies very nicely even loaded close to 2.0. AS soon as the reserve opened the main bag fell free. I watched it fall to the south side of the pond. I'm slightly sore from the terminal reserve ride. It was a hop and pop, but by the time I got all the shit figured out I was terminal. That sucks that your JVX is giving you problems... I thought the openings on it were supposed to be better than the vx's. At least they are charging prices that say it is better than the VX. Hmmm lets see now, $2500 for a canopy that opens shitty... Not gonna happen. As far as the gay thing goes... "How you doin?"
CanuckInUSA 0 #20 May 9, 2006 I've only been terminal on the JVX about 4-5 times with the first few times being uneventful. It's just the one prior to my reserve ride was spicey as hell (I controlled it before it got away on me) and the other one went to the shitters before I could do anything. But there may or may not be an issue with the terminal JVX openings. I just don't have enough terminal jumps on this canopy to know for sure. Freefall scares me ... I doubt it's a general issue. At least two members of the Aussie 8-way team fly JVXes, and they've been doing lots of jumps on 'em.
superstu 0 #22 May 9, 2006 steve, do you have any kind of RDS on your jvx? if you come to the first cpc meet this weekend at skydive oregon we can talk about that crap. but a jvx terminal isn't bad...usually.Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
CanuckInUSA 0 #23 May 9, 2006 Quote steve, do you have any kind of RDS on your jvx? I currently am not using an RDS but I would like to talk to someone about it. I briefly talked to JB about building one, but believe it or not I was waiting to visit you NW dudes. Therefore unless it's obvious that the WX will be crappy this coming weekend in OR, myself and Brad were planning on car pooling down there this Friday.
