Tom Delibac Wins The Overall in the Southeast for 2006

Well that wraps up another season of regional swooping in the Southeast. Thanks to everyone involved to make this season the best yet. All of the people at the DZ's, Betty and Eric and Ken from Lake Wales, TK and Carrie and everyone from the Hills, Wendy and the gang from Sebastian always rock and of course Hans, Sandy and Ella from the Farm in Georgia. We look forward to see you all again soon. It was a great pleasure for all of us to visit all of you this season. On behalf of all of the pilots in this region, thank you all very much for supporting swooping.
And of course again, Kolla and Lara and Robin and Jennifer and Michelle and Roy and Justin who made this season the best on record.....Thanks!

So.......2004, Ian Bobo, 2005 Tyler Lawson, 2006 Tom Delibac. Tom now stands in some good company after his second place finish last weekend in Lake Wales. Tom has won the coveted 2006 Southeast overall swooping championship.

Tom competed in all 5 meets this season winning three of them and taking second place in the other two. Competitors who competed in 5 meets this year have their worst finish dropped with their four best scores determining their points towards the overall championship.

Finishing a close second overall was David “Jr.” Ludvik. David and Delibac are both in their first year of competitive swooping. David had one first place finish, a second and two fourths towards his overall placing. Both of these pilots will be gunning hard in Colorado for the National CPC championship. Jesse Watson finished third overall in the season standings with Vitaly Turbayelski finishing in the fourth spot. Turbayelski is returning competitor after taking some time off from competition swooping. Travis Stewart finished fifth edging out Joey "Sunman" Day who finshed sixth overall.

The Southeast region had fourteen out of the nineteen registered members new to competition swooping for the 2006 season. Everyone did an outstanding job in their first year of competition.

We like to give out a special mention to Denise Chervenak who committed to swooping her Katana 107 in the 2006 season. Denise with her enthusiasm and willing to learn and to share her knowledge with other newer competitors has had an overall positive effect on swooping in the Southeast region. Denise has participated in competitions and training camps around the country this season and plans to attend the CPC championships in Colorado this August.

Good luck to Denise and all of the Southeast competitors at Mile High Skydiving for the 2006 CPC National Championships.

See you all in 2007

Are yall giving 100pts for winning a meet? I thought you were supposed to use the total scores earned for each one of the meets to add up to be your overall score. Obviously dropping the lowest of the 5.

Eitherway, looks like yall had a great time! Congrats Delibac for winning.

Just two more meets go to in TX...and I wish we had more.

WOW.......Thanks for the special mention Chris. It was an ABSOLUTE BLAST this year and I am so excited to have finally been a part of it all! From setting up courses to watching all the guys do there thing - I have learned TONS! My Katana has also been a great tool to learn on. I'm still learning the wing and learning in general so it's still "game on" for me. I'm looking forward to seeing what all the regions have to offer and HOPING more girls come out to play. The Championships are my end to the season since I have wanted to see this first year right through to the end since I started, no matter what my placing wasB|....Gotta play in order to learn right?

But I have got to say, I am very anxious for next year - and I can only hope I am a little more of a "threat" in 2007.....B|....It is going to ROCK!

Thanks again to EVERYONE for ALL the support along the way - just another reason I love this sport so much.

Smiles, hugs and fly safe until next time :)

great attitude denise, we need more people like you.

i hear all to often, "im not going to compete because I wont win". and I can't tell you how "TRUE" that is. you will never win if you don't compete. and if you don't compete, you will never know what it takes to win, or hell, even place for that matter..

congrats tom, you to dave!

stick with it denise and start working those 270's and you will be surprised at how much better you get with accuracy hitting the gates.

That's a bullshit attitude. In other words, that jumper is secure trying to be a hotshot on his own DZ and doesn't want to bruise his ego by competing and showing himself (and others) that he's not nearly as good as he thinks.

Our "core competitors" that have made just about every meet from last year to this are proof of why you compete. 1. Its a hell of a lot of fun. 2. You learn a LOT from competing.

Thanks Shim.......I try and be positive about all things and even though I know I wasn't real competition this year, it didn't stop me from giving it my all.....or talking to others about how great the CPC is if you truly want to start swooping competitively. Everyone has to start from somewhere, I remember the early Shimmel and V and Ian days.......and I've learned tons THANKS to you all.....so I am here for the haul and this will not be my last year competing - promise! Not only has it been a great learning experience but I have had TONS of fun and THAT is what it is all about!!!

I'm working it, I'm working it.......;)

Denise,

When you coming back to the Mile Hi Swoop Park to continue your training? Maybe a couple days before the CPC championships but everybody in the world will be here taking up space training before the championships. Before long your boy will have you on a JVX.......pretty fun stuff huh?

Check out your boy's current PST standing at www.proswoopingtour.tv/points.htm
