superstu 0 #4 July 11, 2006 yeah, that wasn't a jump plane and the Farrington's don't own it. no one at the DZ saw it cause it was at the other end of the airport and the airport is huge. but the pilot forgot to put the gear down and slid it in. no one was hurt and there appeared to be very little strucctural damage. the engine on the other hand i heard has about $50k in repairSlip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
Spizzzarko 0 #5 July 11, 2006 Ususally a blade strike on a recirocating aircraft engine will result in a total tear down and overhaul. The 50k may include the prop price and any other damage to theaircraft. I hope that dude has insurance. I bet the pilot was pissed. Looks like Steve Armstrong was rocking the Velocity in one of the pictures in the back ground there. Are you still scarred of the JVX openings Steve? CanuckInUSA 0 #6 July 11, 2006 QuoteLooks like Steve Armstrong was rocking the Velocity in one of the pictures in the back ground there. Are you still scarred of the JVX openings Steve? I'm using my Velo for the Zone Accuracy rounds since it's much easier to shut down. But I was (cough) forced into taking the JVX terminal on most of the other rounds last weekend since I was first out on my pass and took it down a little before pulling so as to not have a conflict with the guys coming in after me. I still like my JVX and am slowly getting used to the terminal openings (which sometimes are spicey and sometimes not). But I really need to work on my consistency this season as for one reason or another I'm just stinking up the joint on some of my runs. The season is not over yet and there's still time left to salvage some of my pride. But it's taken a beating this year as my consistency in hitting those 5 footers just hasn't been there (I'm either verting or setting up too far back) and because of this, I'm often finishing well down in the standings. Either that or I just suck ... PS: I would like to add though that I had a good time last week swooping in Kapowsin and meeting/partying with many of the Kapowsin peeps. Plus Luke and Andy did pass along some useful info when they saw us doing something up there in the skies which can be improved upon. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
Vectracide 0 #7 July 12, 2006 Bummer about the no gear landing.....bummer that I left early and missed it! I also heard that there was a rockin BBQ and homemade "fireworks" later Sat. night. A big thanks to the Farrington family for the hospitality. Too bad so many of us had to get out butts home. I'd figure I would post the results here as well: ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
