JVX 665ft???

Recommended Posts

Hi outthere, I´m wondering if the "665ft-information" is really correct, cause if you check out the results of that competition at the website of the DZ where it took place www.skydive-leipzig.de it´s telling you just about a missed entrygate (or at least zero points) in distance round 1 and of 129,81meters (=425ft) in distance round 2... any information on it? hey Ian, things are going good here, I did make a run that was 665ft. According to the gate siren I missed the gate, from someones eye they said it was within one inch, All morning during the speed event the siren did not sound for three or more peoples runs, They said it was to be fixed for the distance but I am not a believer. I thought I was in and upset to find out differently accordinbg to just a gate siren. There was lack of a video camera even with the gate for further verificaiton, and as you see in the video all the camera shots are from well 300-400 feet into the course. Its still not the world record, and wouldnt be even if I made it past that huge feat of 678. No chief judges or anything Hope this helps, see you boys soon

Whatever, very very nice swoop, and if you have swooped 665 ft then you know that more is within reach [ :) ] ... I'm really curious how those JVX's will perform next season, I hope they will perform nice, it's a very nice canopy ... but for me, I still have time to see how it will perform, need some more experience first or :S ...

great swoop, but didn't score the gate?

An awesome swoop non the less (wish I could make it that far!), but what is the point of having "expensive electronic scoring system with electronic gate buzzers, senors, etc." if they are not functioning properly. The swoop comp was that high level and didn't even have a camera on the gate. I also noticed that Jim was the one who posted that on cp.com and he seems to have a bad tendency to promote his ideas which gets annoying from time to time.

I don't care if it was in the course or not, its still a bad ass swoop, but how many bad ass swoops are out there that we haven't seen outside of gates? Seems as though Jim is promoting this a ton because its of his new baby. If he saw a Xaos 21 do that I don't think we would hear as big of a hype.

1) Good job Nick. As someone who's seen Nick swoop in person I can tell you that he is one hell of a good canopy pilot. The boy will be challenging Jeffro and TJ on the freestyle circuit for years to come. Plus the boy can pilot a canopy farther than I likely ever will.

2) The JVX is an awesome wing (I don't think there is a single person out there who has tried it who has said it is a lousy wing). But as we have seen time after time, it is the pilot first and the wing second.

No-one here has said it wasn't an awesome swoop.

No but there seems to be tons of people who continue to want to criticize Jim for marketing the JVX (not saying you do this). Anyone who knows Jim, knows his style. He's very passionate about what he does and he's very passionate about the JVX. And he should be. It's an awesome canopy.

It's ####ing cold up here right now and my ####ing brain is frozen. :P

I made a mistake. There I said it. I thought you were criticizing Nick for referring to himself in the 3rd person. But then I went back a read what Jim wrote and saw one very small reference in the middle of the post where he referred to himself in the 3rd person context. So then I deleted some of what was originally written by myself since it obviously didn't apply.

Anyway, I don't know why some people continue to criticize Jim Slaton. I sure as hell haven't seen very many other swoopers out there who have built a canopy which turns out to be the cat's meow and more. My hat goes off to Jim for doing what he does and for being so passionate about canopy piloting. Imagine where this sport would be if there were more leaders like Jim and less followers.

Huh? I was under the impression that the JVX was designed and manufactured by Jyro of NZ Aerosports, and that Jim was the US distributor.

As for why Jim can be annoying online: I've never met the man, but every post he made here seemed to be either advertising or an attempt to draw people to his site. The posts that used drive me nuts were when he'd post in response to a question: "come ask that at canopypiloting.com". If you know the answer, why don't you just tell us? Grrr...

The JVX is manufactured in NZ and yes Jim is the US distributor. I honestly don't know how much R&D Jim did on the canopy versus what Jyro did. But Jim was very instrumental in the development of the JVX.

If you are lucky enough to know Jim, you'd understand that these things that annoy people like you are just his normal every day antics. He is very passionate about his work and he wants to share his work with others.

But I'm going to get off of the Jim Slaton soap box now. I like the man, I respect his knowledge and his passion. But it's not worth arguing here on DZ.COM any more.

Jyro re-introduced the crossbrace canopy (PD made the crossbraced excalibur out of F111 way, way back in the day but canned it???:S)as the Extreme FX back in the 90's. on precicely the same day that PD answered with the Velocity NZaerosports released the extremeVX (Velocity exterminator!) Since that time gyro and others have tweaked the crossbrace configuration and In particular Jim Slaton assisted with the JVX (Jims Velocity exterminator) they were sussing the JSX for a bit with a different structure but the JVX has proven to work.

Meanwhile with PD they are yet to release this Zbraced canopy and Daedalus are innovating and changing the way we look at parachute constuction all together.

I wonder if the JSX (with NZ bracing) will come out the same day the Z brace does?

I cant wait to get my JVX89 Hybrid.

was cut this week!;)B|:P
