hookitt 1 #2 December 19, 2002 That's just F***ing Cool. When can we see the vid?My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
JPA 0 #3 December 19, 2002 That is f@$#ing wicked!!!Is it just me, or does the canopy appear to have two bridals coming from it?
quade 4 #4 December 19, 2002 That's not two bridles, that's an artifact of NTSC video called "interlace". If Dan were to take the origianl frame grabs into PhotoShop, he could easily remove one of the firelds and make this all look -much- better. Or, if he'd like to send -me- the originals, I'd be willing to do it for him.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
jumpy 0 #5 December 19, 2002 sweet!! It would be very intersting to land though...the dudes bigger then the canopy! lol

parachutist 2 #8 December 19, 2002 Quote wing loading from 8:1 to 11:1 dan Is this Dan's interpretation of the "Let's go fly a kite" song? It's reminiscent of the RidIcarus canopy from a couple years back http://www.johnandjanine.com/october/news/icarus.shtml Chris
cobaltdan 0 #9 December 19, 2002 quade, thanks..on your suggestion i played around in photoshop and found the deinterlace filter...wow big difference. i just edited the original post and put up the corrected pics... video: in about a week it should be posted. sincerely, dan<><>Daniel Preston <><> atairaerodynamics.com (sport) atairaerospace.com (military)
grosfion 0 #10 December 19, 2002 Still don't know what the bloody point is to built a canopy which you are not able to land..... I use my parachute to land savely, maybe some people use it for something else... For me this is totally nonsense.... Marcus

PhreeZone 20 #13 December 19, 2002 My guess is a weapons delivery platform. 500lbs is a common bomb weight and at a high glide rate they might be cheaper then other methods.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

fudd 0 #16 December 19, 2002 Would it actually be possible to land one of these with a wing loading of 8:1??? If you are crazy enough I mean. Is negative vertical speed possible? I'd like to see the video Maybe it would be safer to land something with a little more sqr/f, like a wingsuit... There are only 10 types of people in the world. ernokaikkonen 0 #17 December 19, 2002 >Would it actually be possible to land one of these with a >wing loading of 8:1? From some of Dan's earlier posts I understood that he believed it could be landed, but that they wouldn't let their test-pilots try it...I could be wrong though. vesatoro 0 #18 December 19, 2002 Quote Maybe it would be safer to land something with a little more sqr/f, like a wingsuit... Well, the wing loading on wingsuits generally varies in the range between 10 and 15 lbs/sqft when the whole body area is also counted in. So I'd prefer landing a canopy with a 8:1 wingload, than my Skyflyer... And with a 25sqft canopy my wl would be around 6:1 Vesa "Fear is the path to the Dark side" (Master Yoda)
