I just upsized my reserve.

Recommended Posts

the MSRP on the Optimum is $1,380. Based on the limited quantities that may be available and the fact that this is a premium reserve being added on to the product line, not replacing the PD Reserve, we are not anticipating to see much discounting on this canopy by dealers.

But like Mark said, well worth the money. they open, fly and land like no reserve I've ever tried.

I have deployed and landed my 106 at a 2.4 wing loading.

I am happy to say that that max wingloading for me has gone down to 1.8.

that is max, I had alot of lead on.;)

that is using a roughly 220 lbs exit weight. (it took alot of lead to get me there):P

Al, is there any information available about container sizing for these, or how big they are in comparison to the standard PD reserves? If I have a container sized for a 126R, will a 143 Optimum fit in it? How about a 143 Optimum in a container for a 113R?

looks like 126 is a big step up

I think you may have missed that the new PD Optimums have a dramatically smaller pack volumes than any other reserve on the market today. This will allow you to upsize reserves very easily, while still fitting in your current rig sized for a much smaller reserve.

I'll be upsizing my Smart 120 to the biggest that'll fit in my rig... thinking maybe the 143?! B|

Cheers!

As the sizing will vary from one container manufacturer to the next. PD will not dictate which size Optimum will fit in which model container. We will roughly say that most containers will fit 1-2 sizes larger reserve when comparing to the traditional PDR. We are providing samples to container manufacturers as they are requested so they will be able to produce charts for sizing.
The Flight Characteristics, and FAQ's are now up on the PD website for those who would like to take a peek. Many of your questions will be answered there.

i had a chance to talk to the lead test jumper for PD this past january while in florida and from the sound of it this should be one badass wing in every aspect. i hope to be getting a 143 shortly.

I don't jump an R-Max, and they don't incorporate new technology. With all the respect possible, I applaud PD for taking this step, however experience and a look back at history tells me to watch carefully for the unexpected that occurs in the regular marketplace.

I am not opposed to new technology, just prefer to have an "out". I was eager to embrace HMA, but would not have been so eager had it been on my reserve.

I just upsized my Reserve as well! B| I have a Wings (W-4) which was designed to hold a PD-113R. I had a Tempo 120 in there (tight fit) and just upsized to the new PD Optimum 143 Reserve.:)
Cheers!
