My ProTrack failed me today

Maybe they didn't get it the email. did you send a second?

All of the information (serial #, purchase info, etc, etc) was at home so no I didn't send a 2nd email. That is why I contacted SQ1 this morning (why wait an extra day). Besides, the original email message I sent Sunday night never bounced so that leads me to believe that it was sent and likely received.

I only contacted L&B on one occasion when I told them I love my ProTrack and to beg for a new feature (altitude in ft, speed in kph). I received an almost immediate response from them, but I am in the same timezone, which could explain at least some lag in your case...

Hey Steve,

Thanks for the nice comments about Square One! :-)

I'm sure the only explanation for not hearing from L&B was that the email was somehow lost. They really do have about the best customer service in the industry, so I can't imagine they would have ignored your message.

The ProTrack is an excellent product, and I'm sorry to hear you had trouble with yours. Unfortunately these things just happen sometimes - with any product... But L&B's products are usually very high-quality - sounds like you just (unluckily) got the rare dud.

I'm sure the new one will work out great for you!

Skybytch wanted me to post an update concerning my ProTrack issues. Also, I would like to add that the L&B people did contact me the other day via an email (saying that they never did get my original email I sent them Sunday evening) and that they were willing to work with me and Square One to get my problems resolved.

Yesterday I shipped off my faulty ProTrack back to Square One and upon their receipt, Square One will be shipping me a replacement. Then Square One will ship the faulty ProTrack back to L&B and the L&B people will give Square One a new unit or some sort of credit. So when all is said and done, I should have a new ProTrack in my possession likely sometime mid to late next week?

I know I can't rely solely on my audibles (which I really don't think I did in this scenario), but what I learned from all of this is that I'm going to be flying with a backup ProDytter. Afterall, audibles exist for a reason and they come in real handy (especially in a head down free fly).

Happy skydiving everyone ...

Switching it to 'Economy' mode might help, depending on whether you jump every day or just weekends. If you jump just weekends, set it to 'Economy'.

But if switched to Economy it MUST be turned on before you start jumping.
I once went to look at mine in the plane and realized it hadn't been turned on.
Then it of course turned itself on and zeroed itself about 1500 feet below the drop altitude.

So I basically heard the third alarm - the siren, for my entire skydive.
Not fun.
