PhreeZone 20 #4 January 17, 2003 Get a demo from someone... I've jumped a lot of canopies, demoed everything I could ever get my hands on and my experience with the Hornet was lackluster at best. It opened stiff, it flew, it landed. I thought it was lacking some of the flare that other canopies seem to have, it was a nice glide and its priced cheap due to the exchange rates at the moment. I personally liked the Lotus best for that level of proformance only since if I wanted to I could really rip into the Lotus and it had the potential to play, the Sabre2 is very similar to the Lotus, only dives slightly less on risers. The Hornet is a similar proformance to the Sabre2, its better on a few things but the Sabre2 is better at others. Demo demo demo demo demo... thats a lot of money to spend on something.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
skygod7777 0 #5 January 17, 2003 the hornet is a really great canopy. i have over 250 jumps on them. from 170 to 120. really nice canopies. you also need to try some other canopies out. the sabre 2, from what i hear, is nice. and the safire 2 is a nice canopy also. all are in this same range as a hornet. but price wise, the hornet wins again. you can get a brand new hornet for the price of a used sabre 2, or safire 2. *usally*. demo everything before you make a decision. later
Kirils 1 #6 January 18, 2003 The Hornet is the best all round damned best ultimate fine tits wounderful easy packin' smooth opening canopy I've ever jumped. I'm buying a new 135 from Roy soon. Take my word, I never lie BUT... demo it first, and demo it again before you make up your mind. Canopy's are like women...we all have preferences."Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
hookitt 1 #7 January 18, 2003 According to your profile you jump. Container: Mirage G3 Main: Xaos-21 108 ft² Reserve: PD Reserve 143 ft² AAD: Cypres Why are you getting a 135 hornet instead of what you are flying now?My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... ladyskydiver 0 #10 January 20, 2003 Hey, hon! I voted "Another canopy" since I fly a Silhouette 170 and haven't had the opportunity to fly a Hornet. If there's anyone at your DZ that has a Hornet, see if they'll let you borrow it for a jump to test it out. Or will the manufacturer's of Hornet allow you to demo their canopy? Good luck on your decision as to which main and reserve to buy.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably.
