rehmwa 2 #4 September 22, 2003 right now, 42 points on a 5 point dive in 35 seconds is considered pretty good ... bdev 0 #7 September 23, 2003 Doh, I wish I hadn't started this thread ! In the BPA licensing system, you have to complete 4 points in a 4-way in order to get your FS1 license (enabling you to jump with other people). The question was trying to find out how many points people managed to turn on this dive....you must do at least 4! --- One life...Use it.
Nick 0 #8 September 23, 2003 I managed 9 points (even with one of the others on the jump brain locking the exit). But at Weston it's generally accepted that you should manage 2 off 6 point 4-ways for your cat 10 (just to try to increase the level of awareness of people past cat 10). Nick 0 #10 September 23, 2003 I think it was: Sidebody Phalanx RH Doughnut Stair Step Diamond Can't be certain for sure as it about a year and 160 jumps ago (will check for you). One we did on another cat-10 jump was: Sidebody Phalanx Open Accordian Satellite Something our DZ always does is to put the student in point as it really makes then work at keeping the visual contact. rehmwa 2 #17 September 24, 2003 Yoinks, we are talking about 4 ways for newbies and there's no time limit here (we jump from 12.5 - 13K) Minxxxxxxxx and Kallend - Sorry about the confusion. 29 points from altitude is more like 50 - 60 seconds working time (plus track/dump), not 35, sorry about the confusion. And we need to be more consistent to even think of going to regionals, let alone nationals, let alone the podium. And not every draw is an all american. (If you see the french video, they scored 42, but did 52 points during the vid and that was from 10.5 feet and they goofed off at the bottom bumping heads and such). I bet in time it was in the high teens for competition timeBut, in the middle of our practice dive, there was a flow of about 12-15 points in a row that I want to feel on every dive some day. Do you know what I mean? It gives me hope that we will be that fast someday. On to the tunnel... Note this is also our warmup dive so we do it alot and have gotten high 20's a couple times (on video). ... NeedToJump 0 #18 September 24, 2003 Do you know where the French 42 point dive can be downloaded from (if it's available online)? Is there a resource to see videos of competition dives from past championships? I know that http://www.mondial03.com/modules.php?name=Videos only has a few videos available. Anyone know where I can find more?Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
rehmwa 2 #19 September 24, 2003 It's on: www.skyleague.com just page down the front and you'll see it. Kurt posts a lot of dives on the site and changes them every week. The 42 pointer is on there likely until we beat it. I've downloaded the entire dive pool a couple times from just downloading Majic and the Knights and Airspeed. I like Majic's individual talent and have pulled a lot of good information from the vids. The Knights dives are some of the cleanest downloads from this sites, also. You missed getting the GK round 5 from last years nationals, it's a lesson in 'smooth'. good luck ... Emma 0 #21 September 24, 2003 Ok now come on Dave, we showed you ours, now show us yours? What did you get on your Cat10 dive? Personally, although it's interesting, I wouldn't necessarily take it as a huge indicator of future skydiving glories...or doom! I know people who got 16 points, but it does kind of make a difference if the people you jumped with are highly experienced or not... Getting your Cat 10 is where it all starts - it's a ticket to really begin learning - if that's what you want to do. It just gets more fun from here. The best I've done so far is 29 points on BFLAN, and the video shows lots of potential for faster I wish a team at my dz would do that! I have almost 200 jumps and the most points on a 4-way is 3. That was last weekend with the dzo helping. The problem is that everyone at my dz is a lightweight except me so whenever I let go I immediately sink and can't get back to the formation. It sucks trying to get licenses.
rehmwa 2 #24 September 24, 2003 Nutz - You'll figure it out and learn to slow up also (because you have to). Start jumping with the same people and get a little coaching. You'll get good fast soon enough. (old timers story, to skip, hit your back key - 1987 - I was trying to get my 4 point 4way for licensing. {little C182 DZ that only went to 8500} we finally got 2 good divers and me and another newbie on a simple 4 way. This was it, we are gonna do it. 3 points, and I track away early at 4000 ft. I'm 20 feet away before I catch my mistake and then it's too late to go back and get that last point. Got a lot of shit for that (we normally broke at 3000-3500). It wasn't much longer before we got it. Now 4 points on the hill is a better goal. Everyone gets better. Keep practicing. ... skydive84 0 #25 September 25, 2003 Think i got 10/11 points on mine. There were 9000+ jumps on the dive though - only 26 of them being mine! I did all the work though!
