Favorite 4 Way Dive Flow?

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

I am creating a 4 Way Scrambles draw and was wondering if anyone had a favorite 4 way which was relatively simple and seemed to flow real well. I have some good ideas but could use a couple more.
The dives can be Random or Block.

I am on my way to do some research. :S

Also, does anyone know a decent site to create dive pools/ flows to be printed? Any help would be appreciated.

A nice dive when mixing a couple really experienced people with a couple newbies (most scrambles formats) is

M-21-F

It can really get the newbies excited about 4-way since it's fast and 'relatively' bulletproof

My favorite one is M-M-M-M but O-O-O-O flies really well too ;);););)

H-Q-E

The point has basically no moves, and the tail has very small moves, so if you are running a scrambles meet put the two experienced guys in the center. The only thing that might get a new guy if they are on point is the Q if they have never done an outfacing slot before, if that is going to be an issue you could switch the Q with an F. I fly OC so I like the Q:P outfacing rocks.

It's good to take a scrambles and start easy and then get tougher. That helps the experience people prep the newer ones. Cause scrambles (to me) are really about having fun and giving the newer people a chance to do some better stuff.

Round 1: B-O-F
Round 2: M-H-Q
Round 3: E-21-J
Round 4: Star/Star-Opposed helix-crank
and so on

Personal opinion that scrambles meets should be all randoms unless you are scrambling from a pretty strong pool of jumpers... scrambles are usually about exposing newer jumpers to more experienced ones, and blocks (even if they go well) will mean lower scores and less confidence-boost.

My team has a speed drill dive we use because it flows well and is very fast:

meeker-satellite-donut-open-star

We've busted out a couple of 21 point dives (in time) with that one even though our best competition average ever was a 9.7... I'd probably ditch the satellite in a scrambles because 5 points is too much and because it interrupts the flow more then the others.

Randoms like sidebuddies, twins, and cat + accordian can be challenging and a lot of fun for newer people.

omniskore.com has software that will create pools, but I don't know if it will print them out with all the pretty pictures:P. You might contact Kurt Gaebel at skyleague.com and see what he's using to create the PDF files of draws.

It's called "printpool" and it's great and it will print out the pretty pictures. I'm sure if T has updated it in the last couple years though.

Ack, I think he has 4 of everthing on that site. When I go there, I don't feel quite so obsessive about the whole thing.:P

(Great site)

My favorite technique for putting to gether a dive since I'm usually the only one that knows the dive pool, ask the other three on the dive to pick a letter, and then find a way to engineer it so I get all the big moves:P.

:D:D That sounds very familiar to me......

except it gets old when EVERYBODY thinks it's funny to pick I, or any letter after Q. I mean it was funny the first 27 times, but then it got old - then it got funny again for a while, now it's old again.

that's when you use this technique, observe:

Me: Pick a letter

Smartass: V

Me: OK V is a phalanx, now you pick a letter

Smartass 2: R

Me: Ok, R is an open accordian, well look at that, you two smartasses can sit there and pick up grips while the point and I do all the turns:P

See how easy it is;)
