tdog 0 #1 February 14, 2006 www.coloradoskydivingleague.com The CSL schedule and sponsors have been posted to the CSL website. If you are nearby Colorado, or in Colorado, please consider participating in some league events. Heck, with Southwest flying into DIA cheap - a trip to Colorado might be an awesome opportunity to fly in the tunnel at night, and participate in the CSL events during the day! If you register on our website - you can get a free tee-shirt (but you must be in Colorado to pick it up). Colorado has a few wonderful teams lined up - including the Air Force teams that took the Collegiate Championships by storm. It is going to be a fun season. I will keep all you DZ.commers in the loop as to events and scores as they occur. And - yep, there will be a tunnel league too, to celebrate our new tunnel!!! It is going to be a lot of work, it already has been... But I hope to learn from it... Is that the name of your team? I need to make sure I put it down. Nevermind... I looked up your registration and found that is what you put... Found some good news - lots of people have already signed up! So far, we have about 1/3 of the ordered tee-shirts given away based upon registrations... Spread the word guys.... I ordered a lot, I don't want extras! We are so excited. Who wants to play???? This will be ideal for the novices because of cost and learning curve... Experience required = a few minutes in the tunnel... 2) Kevin Chapman, from Team Levitation, is the first winner for the 2006 season, a Chipotle Burrito (thanks be to our sponsors) - for catching the August dates being published incorrectly. www.coloradoskydivingleague.com has been updated... Kevin, what do you like on your burrito??? 3) The first meet is only a few weeks away - that is right - the first week of April, April 8th and 9th... See the CSL website for all the info. I expect everyone to come excited for some scrambles action especially - that is right, you don't have to have a team to play! I really need to get working on this, because I am going down to Z-hills at the end of the month, so... After the meet I will post results here too: QuoteREMINDER - WEEKEND - 1ST MEET @ Mile High Skydiving The weather report - although a week out - looks like nice warm weather. I am super excited about this season - with the new wind tunnel in town, the level of skydiving skills is going to excel... Don't believe me? I have proof! I went on a 3 way skydive using the 4way pool, with a friend who has some tunnel time, on his 4th jump after AFF... (Yes it was legal, the other two both had instructor ratings) My friend flew tail on Bow, Meeker, Phalanx, and we even gave him the outfacing on the Phalanx, and we turned 12 clean points! What a difference the tunnel time makes, huh? I don't want you guys to think you need to be a rock star with tunnel time to come out and have fun with us... If you never have turned one point, it is ok, please come! But I am suggesting that as the season progresses we all will learn and have fun using all the new tools, like Otters and Tunnels, we now have in Colorado! 2006 is going to be awesome! So here is the schedule... On Saturday April 8th we will have Scrambles Saturday - and food that night for anyone who participates! EVERYONE, please come out for Scrambles Saturday. We will mix it up and put together teams from the people who show up. If you are on a team, we especially want you to participate on the Saturday Scrambles so you can jump with other people and share your experience. It won't take all day, so you can still do team practice jumps later in the day. Sunday - the teams will compete. If you are on a team, plan on jumping! If you want to throw together a pick-me-up team on Saturday, to jump again Sunday, PLEASE DO SO! Registration will begin at 8 AM on both Saturday and Sunday. Please be completely registered by 9 on Saturday so we can start having fun. Sunday you may jump with your team on load one, should you choose. A bit of a change from last year... All meet jump tickets will be purchased thru the CSL - as the registration fees are included in the jump price. So bring your checkbook or cash so you can make a payment to the CSL for your jump tickets. Do you have no clue what a Meeker is? No problem... I will have picture copies of the divepool for Saturday so you don't need to know letters, numbers, and names... To participate on the scrambles day you should bring: 1) Your normal jumping gear (Rig, Helmet, Goggles, Altimeter, Gloves) 2) Money for the jump tickets 3) Blank DVD or MiniDV tape to record the jumps 4) A RW friendly jumpsuit would help, like one with grippers. This is not necessarily required, but if you have a few, bring all of them so you might be able to share with someone who needs one. 5) Weights/Baggy Jumpsuit - to change your fall rate, if you normally use them. Or to give to someone else on your team in case the team has fall rate issues. AND FINALLY - here is what you need to do now... I need to know how much food to buy.... 1) If you have not already registered for the season (free) - do so at http://www.coloradoskydivingleague.com/jumperreg.aspx 2) Send me an email at travis@coloradoskydivingleage.com - and tell me if you are participating on Saturday or Sunday - or if you are available to fly camera - or ask me any questions... tdog 0 #16 February 21, 2006 QuoteQuote I am sure your visits to the DZ can be called "marketing" she can write off all the jumps, registration and the local tunnel time gift certificates for CSL participants as business expenses I all reality, Mary can't afford NOT competing in any meet, it wouldn't be good for her new business {was that laid on a little thick? I think it was just right} You want to come out and be our marketing guy???
rehmwa 2 #17 February 21, 2006 QuoteYou want to come out and be our marketing guy??? The way things are going, and with my wife starting in the jumpsuit business a lot more gung ho that the last couple years, please don't tempt me with a low cost of living, skydive-centric career. It's way too tempting. ... flyangel2 2 #18 February 21, 2006 Hey, remember me? I'm a mom. Guilt doesn't work on me! If I'm not out there at the CSL meets, I'm sure there will be some one out representing SVC Besides, as it's been noted and said before: I'm a "big way" gal and turning all those points makes me look badMay your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey
tdog 0 #19 February 23, 2006 Quote Besides, as it's been noted and said before: I'm a "big way" gal and turning all those points makes me look bad Did you see what Brad typed on the screen in the tunnel when we were flying? "Future 98 point average international 2-way team." I think we did GOOD.... (now, perhaps a coach would say my cross referencing was not good enough if I was reading what Brad was typing, but... Oh well, situational awareness I will argue is a good thing.) Trust me.... I want you on my scrambles team... So, I will have to use a hat with names in it to make sure all is fair and I don't always stack my team to win....

tdog 0 #21 February 25, 2006 And, what was that you were telling me today about a new team being in town??? Or, should the beans not be spilled yet - after all the carpet in the tunnel is brand spanking new, and spilling the beans would make a mess.
tdog 0 #22 March 8, 2006 Newsletter that went out: Things are going great for the CSL. 1) The tunnel is awesome - and excited to host the tunnel league events. It looks like JP will be our guy at the tunnel to help us get all this together, as he was there in Perris, witnessing first hand the birth of their league, and he promises me that we will give them a run for their money. Be looking out for info, but mark your calendar now, so I don't have to worry while I am gone.... 4) I watched some of the Air Force teams train today in the tunnel... We sure hope they will participate in the CSL, because we are going to have some fun! 5) Please, if you have not registered on www.coloradoskydivingleague.com (for free) - please do... There is a free tee-shirt awaiting. Travis
tdog 0 #23 March 8, 2006 I got today's NSL newsletter, and I found out they ran a story on the league! http://www.skyleague.com/pages/news/showArticles.php?story=
tdog 0 #24 April 3, 2006 Here is an announcement I sent out to our mailing list... PLEASE RSVP... Either way (yes I plan on being there - or no, not this time, but next time) Thanks, Travis.
