TrickyDicky 0 #1 September 17, 2007 I looked at an old magazine at a DZ a while back (in the UK), and it had some formations in it that included leg locks. How far back do these go? when did they stop using leg locks? theres a scrambles in 2 weeks and I think it would be interesting if they put leg lock formations in the dive pool. Anyone know of anywhere I can get hold of the formations? UK Skydiver for all your UK skydiving needs.
rehmwa 2 #2 September 17, 2007 I doubt if there's any scrambles rule that says you can't make up your own formations which would include an interlock - for use in the meet. I'll check my files, I might have some old pools. If so, I'll send via PM. ... Not able to answer these questions completely, however I have a 1988 USPA National's video here that includes the leg locks in the competition. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
darkwing 5 #4 September 17, 2007 I think leg-locks were a 1980's thing. They certainly didn't exist in the 1970's. I suspect the reason they aren't in the dive pool anymore is because the judges and competitors didn't like them. I would be very, very surprised if a scrambles had leg-lock points. Generally in scrambles you realize the experience and proficiency of the participants isn't conducive to strong performances, and leg-locks require more skill than traditional points. I like a 3 or 4 round format - starting with VERY easy rounds and getting a little bit harder each round until it ends with a 'kinda' easy last round. ... likvidskaj 0 #6 October 22, 2007 As I can recall, leglocks were included into dive pool for a brief period, only for a 1987 World Meet which was held in Brasil. Eric, Jerome and guys won that meet in the name of Republique de France.

SweMartin 0 #8 October 22, 2007 Last year Sweden's biggest DZ -the Stockholm Skydiving Club, had a eighties theme party. At the same time we hosted the FS4 err... I mean RW4 club championships using the dive pool from I believe 1988. simplyputsi 0 #10 October 23, 2007 I agree. I kept trying to see how they were able to do that making it look so easy, and honestly couldn't figure it out. I have trouble getting a cat together for the love Skymama's #2 stalker -

SweMartin 0 #12 November 5, 2007 Had you ever practised the leg-locks before, cos they look damn smooth! Nope, however this was the second attempt on the jump since we were granted a rejump for some reason that I can't remember.
