Aviatrr 0 #1 August 24, 2001 Just kinda curious where other people mount the indicator for their Cam Eye II.. I don't have a ring sight, so I can't mount it there.. Right now I just have it hanging down in front of my left eye, I turn the camera on, see the red light, then tuck the indicator up into the helmet.. Then I pull it out under canopy and leave it in front of my left eye so I can see it..I don't want anything solid(like a ring sight) on the helmet, but I've been thinking about something like lightweight plastic or metal that would bend/break fairly easily if a line caught on it, but would hold up to the speeds of stand/head down.. Anybody have any ideas?Mike
Skycam3 0 #2 August 24, 2001 I have a paper clip bent in half with gaffers tape wrapped around the clip and the bottom part of the light. Cut a hole in the linner and just let it stick through about 1/2 inch. Headdown, tandem, and RW video for about 1200 jumps...no problems. Hope this helps.Blue Skies and Long Swoops,Tony
AndyMan 7 #3 October 29, 2002 BUMP! I'm wondering the same thing. I don't really like the idea of putting a paperclip so close to my eye. I'm wondering if anyone else has any thoughts on how to reinforce indicator light on a cam eye ii? See attached:__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. PhreeZone 20 #4 October 29, 2002 I've been playing with the idea of using an industrial zip tie, taping the cam eye to it and gluing the ziptie to the inside of the helmet. Basically the same of the paperclip, but flexible. The ziptie has memory so you can slightly shape it to be closer or furthr from your eye.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Cajones 0 #5 October 29, 2002 On my open faced/sidemount helmet, I don't have a ringsight. I put my cameye in the corner of my goggles. When I'm in low light, I put it further back, so the light isn't so bright. During brighter light, I put it into my goggles just a bit further. I doesn't take away from my field of view, and a glance out of the corner of my eye tells me what color it is (red/blue) as I'm pressing the button. The laws of physics are strictly enforced. Deuce 1 #6 October 29, 2002 Andy, you look so lonely in that picture! My video boss doesn't need a ringsight after 6000+ video jumps and he has a really clever solution. He drilled a hole in his goggle on the right side that's just big enough for the indicator light to poke through. He can see it with his periphrial (peripheral?) vision and it stays put. He uses Sorz goggles and just drilled the hole at the right side of the right lens. I have mine attached to my ringsight.
diverds 0 #7 October 29, 2002 I used a piece of wire. It goes under the liner of my helmet, wraps around my head and sticks out the left side of the helmet at eye level. I wraped some tape around the end and dipped it in epoxy so it would not have a sharp end, then zip tied the cam eye indicator to it. It has worked well for me.
