CanEHdian 0 #1 May 9, 2002 Looking for a Kenko .42 - just wondering what the difference is between the standard and the hi-resolution (other than the price!)... and if the difference is noticeable/applicable for skydiving purposes. Thanks,CanEHdian
diverds 0 #2 May 9, 2002 I have a standard Kenko .42 and it looks fine to me but I have not seen the other one so I can't really compare.-Dave"Gas...Undercarriage...Mixture...Prop...Beer"

marcin 0 #4 May 13, 2002 Just got mine (0.3 from Max), havent jumped it yet, but just tried on the ground and compared to my old HAMA 0.45. Appears to distort the picture less, comprehenses about 15% (my guess) more image and I felt it was brighter as well. With a zoom on produces similar effect to 0.45 and 0.42, but again brighter and less distortion. I really like it and cant wait to try it out! I think it is an ideal (superior) alternative to the traditional wide-angle, and it is also so low profile, you can barely notice it on my PC.m. hookit 0 #5 May 14, 2002 Quotejust wondering what the difference is between the standard and the hi-resolutionI'd be really curious to know the difference as well. I jump a standard Kenko .45 lens. If you do opt for the hi-res lens (or you speak to someone offline with experience with it) would you please post the results? Thanks,Trey
CanEHdian 0 #6 May 19, 2002 Trey, here's the scoop straight from the horses mouth - sorry for the late reply."The differences in the lenses, is the coating on the HI model. The KUW 042 lens the front surface is mono coated and the KUW 042 Hi has multi-coatings on the front and rear elements surfaces. The multi-coating will improve light transmission and help to control glare and flair. We hope this information is helpful."I'm still not sure how much difference this would make for us up there, if it's noticeable, etc.. it would be best if someone who's tried one could post his/her opinion.Anyway, here's the contact info for the guy who supplied the previous info:D. prost 0 #7 May 19, 2002 When I bought my lens I called B & H and got the same answer. I bought the standard lens because everyone else had it and I knew it worked well. I haven't seen anyone use the other one. Please try it out and let us know. The main reason I wanted to go with one that I had seen other people use was that it is very humid here and I had seen that the standard one would come apart if it fogged up on the inside. I don't know about the high res one.William
hookit 0 #8 May 20, 2002 Thanks for the followup. Good luck with your purchase and if you do go with the hi res lens please post your thoughts on it. I'll do the same if I come across someone who's using it.Blues,Trey
