Rear float exit for AFF

Recommended Posts

I rear float the door of a c-182 on AFF's. I leave right with the threesome but just under the plane I get laid out face to earth and miss a couple of seconds of the jump. What body position do you cessna camera flyers use on a rear flost exit?

Basically, as soon as you let go, bring your legs up, tuck your arms behind your back and look up at the formation. That body position will help you fall somewhat knees down and allow you to keep the entire formation in frame the whole time. Of course when the AFF formation settles, transition yourself also. I am assuming you were getting your arms and legs out which was making you catch the relative wind and making you transition before you wanted to. Hopefully this will help you. It's a good body position for all types of exits!

Thanks for the info. Yes I have been putting my arms and legs out on exit and trying to adjust them to keep in a heads up position with no luck. I will start trying this new position next weekend. Also I use the quote in your post at the end of all my videos. The people really like it.

you can also drop straight down... fall 'knees down" to keep you steep enough to watch the trio, but pop the wings REALLY hard to slow your fall rate enough to stay relative. (You can use the same body postion at pull time to film the opening of the canopy.)
try a few different ways to see what is more comfortable for you

What's up Mr. Billy?
Most of all, relax, let your body fly, and have fun!
