Sealed or unsealed

Recommended Posts

I was talking to a video flyer at the DZ about getting a .65 lens for video and he mentioned if i get one to make sure its unsealed or if its sealed, unseal it. My question is how needed is unsealed lens and if I get a sealed on accident, how easy is it to unseal one?

most of the time a good glass lens can be quickly unsealed with a really good whack in the front from a rock...
of course they arent really any good after unsealing them that way........
its sounds like your friend is a little overly concerned about condensation...
a good lens shouldnt give you that problem except in NON'skydiver friendly weather....
just my opinion, I could be wrong...

Keep in mind that you jump in Arizona where humidity is very low. I jump on the Gulf Coast and if you have a sealed lense you are going to have problems. I imagine in Ohio it isn't as bad as on the coast but I would still go with the unsealed version.

Uuuummm...OK...so how do you tell? My home DZ is in Georgia. Land of humidity!!! In the early spring Your clothes will often get pretty wet around 3000-4000 feet. Luckily...the end of the skydive. Of course...I remember trying to look up at my canopy only to see a blur of colors because my goggles were so fogged up. I have a .43 Kenko. Should it say on the side?
