PhreeZone 20 #2 July 26, 2002 Nope... sorry in its current form the footage is confined to the camera and other MicroDV cameras. Not sure about the Editing programs.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
CBurket 0 #3 August 7, 2002 I am getting ready to buy a camera and was considering the IP5 until I was told about this problem from my camera dealer. They told me that the camera would require special hardware installed into your computer so that you could import the footage. After it is imported it is MPEG2 format which Preimere and many other editors can work with. I'm assuming you just need the special hardware that communicates with the camera's "Blue Tooth" technology which I'm sure Sony would be glad to sell you. Hope this helps, Chris

I haven't been able to edit mpeg2 footage on Premiere, Final Cut, or anything else. I have to convert it first, with the accompanying quality loss. How do you edit it directly?-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
CBurket 0 #5 August 7, 2002 I thought that premiere could work with those, maybe its just MPEG format. I would get onto Adobe's website and search it to see if there's anything there, if not, call technical support. I don't have anything in MPEG2 format, so I can't screw with it on my system, but I do know that MPEG2 is the format DVD's use.
quade 4 #6 August 7, 2002 Quote . . . but I do know that MPEG2 is the format DVD's use. There's MPEG and there's MPEG ya can edit with. The MPEG on a DVD is -NOT- suitable for editing purposes for a number of reasons. The MPEG on the IP-5 is also -NOT- compatable with most editing software currently on the market. It would be possible to take the video in ANALOG if your editing system has that capability, but you're losing quite a bit of signal quality in doing so. I would want to do a LOT of research before even considering the IP-5.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
konradptr 0 #7 August 13, 2002 I've also heard a rumor - RUMOR!!! - that the frame rate is a lot slower than the PC9 group, and that it sucks for jumping... Peter ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
freeflyswc 0 #8 August 14, 2002 I don't think the frame rate is any slower , but when you rewind and f-f it jumps from clip to clip instead of being a smooth like mini dv . But that's just the different technology (mpeg-2)
