Your favorite wide-angle lens?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone.

Laura and I are going to get a camera and I am curious to what you guys like as far as wide-angle lenses. What is your favorite one and where can you pick one up?

Also, if you can direct me to some good camera stores online, that would be awesome.

Thanks! :)

I used this one:

http://www01.bhphotovideo.com/default.sph/FrameWork.class?FNC=ProductActivator__Aproductlist_html___124579___KEKUW042M___REG___CatID=2102___SID=EFF51047130

for a long time, and was quite happy with it.

I now use this one:

Which was much more expensive, but I like it a bit more for snag and profile issues (no real preference on video quality).

I have a Kenko .43 and it has done very well for me. I can leave it zoomed out and get REALLY wide angle or bump it in a touch and get a more "normal" frame without distortion. I got mine from www.bh-photo.com/ for about $45. Another place you can check is www.bwayphoto.com I like B&H better. If you can't find an item just call them....their sales people know their stuff!!!
Of course...the hottest lens out there is the .3 from Max Cohn. It is 1/2 to maybe a 1/4 the size of conventional WA lenses but has a wider, clearer frame. It also costs something like $200....[:/] Nice lens but I'm not spending that much money at this time. Maybe some day.
