SkyFlyer 0 #1 October 22, 2002 Does anyone know of any book(s), CDs or other training material for Premier 6.5, After Effects 6.5 or Eye Candy 4000? I'm just trying to expand my skills. Thanks. Baxter.

mountainman 0 #3 October 22, 2002 Hey JD...have you tried those? They look extremely basic. Not too helpful, IMHO. You really need to just sit down with the programs and play with them a lot. After you've put some time into them, you should come on here and ask specific questions. It will be much easier to help you that way and you'll learn a lot just playing around. I am currently playing with After Effects and trying to figure it out. Basically, I've put about 3 hours into it and STILL do not have anything that came out of it. However, I know a bunch of ways that it doesn't work. Rememer, Edison tried about 300 times to get the lightbulb to work. He just said that he knows of 300 ways NOT to do it. And Formula 409 wasn't done until...that's right. The 409th formula. Just keep playing. You'll figure it out and learn a lot more in the process. PS. Feel free to IM or PM me specific questions if they come up. I'm online a lot in the evenings. http://www.brandonandlaura.com
diverds 0 #4 October 22, 2002 That looks like some really cool stuff to me. Kinda pricy though at $200.00. Skydive Radio
jdhill 0 #5 October 22, 2002 Have you used them or just looked at them? I have used them for several differnent programs... Primeier, AE, Photoshop, Illustrator, and GoLive... While I am no expert at any of them, I am better than some professionals that I've had to show how to do things... these tapes will take you from the very basic to more advanced stuff... they do a good job (IMO) of explaining how each tool works and in general how to use it... but to call them extremely basic is selling them short. They start assuming you know nothing about the program and build from there. They are long winded and dry, but they show some tips and tricks that you would not figure out with hours of poking around (especially in AE). I also like the fact that they are video based and come with all the files to follow along with... I learn better seeing it vs. reading about it. JUst playing around with the programs is good... but, IMO, you'll be more effective at poking around after watching something like these programs. Just my opinion. jdhill 0 #6 October 22, 2002 This is not what I did, but if you get a few folks to buy them together it cuts the price down. JoshAll that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke
mountainman 0 #7 October 22, 2002 THanks JD. I was just checking out the little outline and it looked pretty basic on the 5th (and last lesson). So, I think that is where I got my info. I would like the AE one. I can't figure mine out. I just need to keep playing. http://www.brandonandlaura.com
chachi 0 #8 October 23, 2002 Actually there is a great book tutor for Premiere 6.0 that translates straight to 6.5. Only a few high end things are different. All basic functions are the same. It is called Adobe Classroom in a Book. Sells at any major store for about 50.00 CA so less for you. What does that make it 6 bucks US. Oh, sorry bitter moment about CA dollar. ~
