prost 0 #1 October 24, 2002 Has anyone taken a close look at this camera. It is a revised version of the 7I. It does have a PC sync terminal for hooking up a remote switch. It is just over 5 MegaPix and has a 3 frame per sec continous shooting mode. The camera sells for just over $1000. Has anyone looked at it closely for skydiving? Looks interesting. prost 0 #2 October 25, 2002 No one has even made a comment on this. Has anyone ever heard of this camera or does everyone think it is a bad idea for some reason I am missing?

gus 1 #4 June 30, 2003 *bump* Anyone using one? Any info to share? 5 megapixels, 28mm wide angle lense, cable release, 3 fps..... GusOutpatientsOnline.com
gus 1 #5 July 7, 2003 I found one in town over the weekend and spent 10 minutes playing with it. I know nothing about cameras but here's what I thought: I was suprised by how small and light it was, I was expecting it to be much more unwieldy. I tested it, as much as I could, in its continuous shooting mode. On maximum resolution (2560 x 1920) with no compression ("raw" I think it was called) and a 32mb compact flash card it took 3 pictures within a second before the card was full. With the same resolution and the compression set to "high" (the 2nd highest setting) it rattled off 7 in less than 2 seconds. I don't know how long it took to 'recover' before I could take pictures again. It had an attachment for a cable release but they didn't have one in store. It had a tripod mount on the underside. You could change the batteries without taking it off a top-mount. The lense was threaded for (49mm?) attachments. I was really impressed, I think if you put a good sized compact flash card in there (>256mb) it would work really well. I'm very tempted but this store wanted £970 ($1600 USD) which is a whole lot of money. GusOutpatientsOnline.com
ltdiver 3 #6 July 7, 2003 Why would you spend $1,000 of the Minolta 7HI, when you can spend the same amount of money and get a 9 burst rate in the Cannon 10D? Check out the price drop! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
chachi 0 #7 July 7, 2003 Just an FYI. There hasn't actually been a price drop on the 10D. It is still retailing for about 1400 - 1500USD in most places. This is a grey market company selling this camera that has a ton of bad reviews on a website I was directed to by B&H Photo. They do have a ton of reviews on the same site as well as many many other photo places. Buyer beware this product is not what your looking for from what I read on this site about this company. ~Chachi

Deuce 1 #9 July 7, 2003 That looks like it might be one of those places that takes everything else out of the box and tries to sell it to you. Still, with a lens, it's gonna be over 2 grand, and that extra grand can buy a lot of skydives for somebody on a tight budget. There's a couple on my DZ, and they are doing OK. The 10D pictures with the Canon lens are very noticeably better, though. But if there's no 10D around, they absolutely rock!
prost 0 #10 July 14, 2003 And after you pay the 1400- 1500 dollars for the 10d you still have to shell out money for a lense.
