OK, got the stuff, now need some advice

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just went and picked up a Canon Rebel Ti. I already mounted a velbon quick release adapter to my bonehead Optik. Now, I'm just wondering if there's anything you guys do to make the camera a bit more secure on the helmet. I mean, it seems OK on the quick release plate, but this plate doesnt have one of those nice locking systems that I've seen on some (I actually had another mount, but it had crap proruding from the bottom and didnt provide flush surfacr for mounting). Would the camera be secure enough on this configuration, or is there something else I could add (straps maybe?) to make it a bit more secure?
Question two - Bite/Tongue switch... Do they come with a standard jack to plug into a camera, or do you need the cable release from the camera and then need to make mods with both?
Thanks in advance

By Velbon, you mean the 635?

I think I've seen one (or some other brand that looks like it) set up with the locking arm facing the front. I assume it lowers the chance of line snags to during deployment?

I'm planning on using a Stroboframe on my Optik with my Rebel X. I'll post pictures when the helmet arrives in Feb '03 (BoneBond)[:/]

My other ride is the relative wind.

Ive seen different bite switches. Most dont have a plug cause manufacturer's of camera's dont use a standard plug. There are some out there for the cannon. Another choice if you cant find one with a plug is to contact skytools. I think email Info@skytools.com they are the same people that make the cameyeII. The lanc plug for the cameye is the same size as the one for your cannon. They sell the plugs for like $2.50 + s&h. Everywhere else Ive seen them they were a lot more and the cannon plug is $25. Hope this helps
