Rigging up a camera helmet?

Does anyone have any cool ideas how to turn a satndard protec into a camera helmet? I have just bought a pc101, but now have to wait till i can afford a decent helmet. I have an old protec kicking about somewhere, and i'm sure it could be used somehow, but rather than re-invent the wheel I thought I would ask the experts.

There is a guy at Ampuria called Rolf (good friend of Colin the rigger) who does helmet mods for camera gear. He does a great job on a Gath helmet which you can buy for about £60.

You could talk to him and get someone to take your helmet out during the xmas boogie (if you're not going yourself of course).

Tony Danbury at Langar does a very professional job on a protec. Only probably is he gets very busy and may not be able to slot u in.

I setup my own protec for both a side-mount video and stills on the top, with Tony Danbury's help.

Are you wishing to get into camera work or is it just going to be used as a recorder for your jumps ?

I setup an old protec with some minor mods, a little sheet metal and some ABS plastic. I'll pm with details if you want. I set mine up for top mount and still L bracket up front. PM me if you want details.

Skydance does a protec-based camera helmet. This appears to be a thrifty solution.

i just put my jvc on my protec a couple months ago.. used an l bracket from bonehead that i picked up for $15 and drilled a couple holes in the side of my protec...works geat.

If you have a camera at that price maybe you should think about a real camera helmet
