Rdutch 0 #1 December 12, 2002 OK time has come for a new video camera. But the only problem I am having is I am addicted to my cameye, and the new sony camera's dont have a lanc port. Is there any substitute for the cameye, or has anyone heard about skytools making a cameye for camera's without lanc? IF you hear something let me know. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! XDV 0 #2 December 12, 2002 I don't think they made mini-dv without lanc..... maybe you talking about a micro mv camera what is the model of the camera you talking about
Deuce 1 #3 December 12, 2002 yeah, the micro's don't have the lanc port.
PhreeZone 20 #4 December 12, 2002 Ray, If you are looking at a MicroDV, RUNAWAY! They are not suitible to jump at all. No Firewire, no lanc, no nothing. Unless you want to do analog only, in which a Hi-8 camera will save you a few hundred. Any of the TRV series has LANC, and so do the newer PC series. The 120's and 101's both do since I've seen helmets set up for both.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Rdutch 0 #5 December 12, 2002 Yeah I know about the micro mv's. I have seen them at the Dz with unhappy results from the owner's. I was thinking about a pc101 or 120. I looked at them both and couldnt find a Lanc port on either of them. Maybe it's just hard to find. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! PhreeZone 20 #6 December 12, 2002 They both have flip covers over them. The Lanc is next to the Mic pick up on both models.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
r2hubert 0 #7 December 12, 2002 Yes that's exact the lanc is on the right side under the flip cover, for the PC101 at least. BTW I have a question if there is some PC101 owner here. I use the PC101 and a Cameye2 and I can start and stop recording using the cameye and shutdown if. But I cannot turn it on every 100% of the time. I explain: when the camera is on standby if you press and hold the button the led goes to purple and when you release it, it shutdown the camera. But when I want to turn it back on doesn't work every time. It's really not good because sometimes the camera get shutdown by it self after a certain period of time and I have to rush remove my helmet and turn it on manually Am I the only one who get this problem with a 101 any advise or suggestion? Is there a way to change the autoshutdown delay? Thanks -- Renaud SMA #9 "Mind is like parachute. It only functions when it's open."
Deuce 1 #8 December 12, 2002 Renaud, do you have a helmet where you can't get to the camera? I've got my 120 in a D-box, and I turn it on by hand, get the standby light and go to video while we're doing the spot. In a GPS spotted plane I turn the on-camera switch on at "door" and then go to video when the first group stages. I think the camera goes to standby at 5 minutes. If you've got a camera helmet that completely encloses the camera, I guess you'd just have to cycle it on and to standby more often than that.
r2hubert 0 #9 December 12, 2002 Yes my camera is totally enclose in the helmet. So the outside is pretty safe and smooth. The down point is that it's hard to access the camera that's why the cameye make my life easier. What I do now is I record some shot inside the plane while people spot or what ever to avoid my camera to automatically shutdown. With the PC9 after the camera shutdown if you press the cameye button it's go in standby again. Does anybody know what to do to bring the PC101 in standby again? I sometime succeed to do it by pressing 3 times the button really fast.... But it's flaky and doesn't work 100% of the time Any solutions will make my life more easier Thanks for the answer JP! -- Renaud SMA #9 "Mind is like parachute. It only functions when it's open." konradptr 0 #10 December 12, 2002 I feel sorry for the guy that thought he was a pimp over at Rantoul with his micro-dv... It sure was small and cool, but I agree, skydivers should run from those micro-dv cameras at all costs... Maybe a solution to the PC101 problem would be to not let it go into it's hibernation mode or whatever it does after 5 minutes of activity? (just keep taking a 1 sec record every 4 minutes?) Or maybe drill a large hole out of the back so you have access to the little switch that controls the VCR/off/camera/memstick, but doesn't mess with the integrity of the box??? Just an idea, hope some of those helped??? ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
Deuce 1 #11 December 12, 2002 THey are really cool looking, but when you see the video it doesn't compare to the image from a 101/120. And oddly enough I'm not really much of a videophile. You know those poor pimp-daddy's are in trouble when you say "Cool footage, lemme get a firewire of that!" and they say "Huh?"

TheMonkey 0 #14 December 13, 2002 QuoteAm I the only one who get this problem with a 101 any advise or suggestion? i haven't run into the problem yet, but i have heard that it exists from the folks at the SkyRanch...the problem lies in something new that Sony did with the 101, and from what i was told the cameye folks are working on it, but right now there is no solution....take this with a grain of salt, i have the back of my dbox cut out allowing access to the camera, so i never shutdown when i am in the plane and subsequently haven't experienced this problem.... --------------------- Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience! Rdutch 0 #19 December 14, 2002 For the cameye I found out its Info@skytools.com Thats to email. They have the best customer service ever. And I enjoy blasting someone for poor customer service. But I had a problem, and had a competition in 3 days and they sent me a new cameye and trusted me to send my old one back. That rocks, also they changed the plug to a new, better, longer lasting, lower profile plug. And they sent me it new free of charge. Welp thanks for all the help, Im gonna go pick me up a new Camera now that I know I can still use my cameye with it. My pc5 is way too tempermental. I need something more reliable, I wish I still had my pc-1. Thanks Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
r2hubert 0 #20 December 16, 2002 Here is the answer from skytools: This problem has been solved with our latest model. If your CamEye is less than 1 year old we can trade it in for a new one. If so please send* us your old CamEye together with some proof of purchase and we will in return send you a new one. Thanks everyone -- Renaud SMA #9 "Mind is like parachute.
