douglas 0 #1 December 12, 2002 So far my conclusion is Don't buy this model! Thankyou for the advice! Which model or Camcorder would someone recommend? Again I would like to do it right the first time! I don't like to do anything half assed, especially when it comes to my complete love, passion, and addiction!! The only thing I love near as much as Skydiving is watching skydiving videos!! Your right Billy I am doomed! I might as well live in a tent on a dropzone, work when I have to and jump every cent away!!

quade 4 #4 December 12, 2002 Ok, I've checked your profile and I gotta ask a couple of questions; 1) Do you really only have 71 jumps? 2) Are you really into BASE at this point? BTW, the canopy is probably a good choice. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
douglas 0 #5 December 12, 2002 Yes I only have 71 jumps, the base jumping is something I definatly want to get into but as far as my profile goes it was just something to fill a blank. I really want get into it as soon as I have some more jumps and find a qualified individual that I trust to train me, and as of now finding that in Eastern Washington is slim to none that I know of! quade 4 #6 December 12, 2002 Ok, I was just checking your experience level on some stuff. Maybe you had previous military training and weren't counting that or something. Anyway, at 71 jumps it's not too early to be -thinking- about flying camera and doing some research for future use, but I would personally not recommend actually doing it until after you've gotten about 200 jumps and your "D" license. Research is good though. It's going to take you quite awhile to figure out what stuff you'll want and quite awhile to take delivery and set it up. In the mean time, you should be concentrating your efforts on learning to save your life while skydiving. Right now, it may appear that you've got it all figured out -- and heck, maybe you do -- but generally speaking people need a few more jumps to truly become aware enough in the air so that they can do that part instictually and then begin to shift the concentration toward shooting video. I have a few little articles about shooting video on my web site. Ya might want to take a look at them just to give you an idea of what you're getting into. http://futurecam.comquade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
PhreeZone 20 #7 December 12, 2002 Instead of rushing into a camera purchase, take the time to get your skills up with out the added distraction of a camera. For freefly can you: Hold a stable sit? Hold a stable HD? Move to take docks in a sit? Move in a HD position? Have an audible? Have airwareness skills to track multiple people (3+) on a freefly jump? Try on your next dive imagining your there with video and you are working to get the shots. See how well you fly and see if you think your ready. If the answers to all the above are not a resounding yes, then take some time and get to that point before jumping a camera. Plus by spring Sony will have their new DV cameras out so it might be better to wait till then anyways.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
konradptr 0 #8 December 12, 2002 Simple answer, (agreed, wait until you have more jumps, then note my suggestions), is: Used PC9 New PC101 New PC120 I think that by the time you get the 150-200 jumps to know what is going on without the distractions of a camera ready to snag everything that comes out of your back, I'm sure there will be plenty of used PC101s and PC120s, and perhaps some used boxes also... But my most important suggestion, GET A SONY mini-DV!!! ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
