iam 0 #1 December 22, 2002 I'm currently using Pinnacle Studio and think its great. Does all I want.....so far. From reading the forum I would guess a lot of people are using Adobe's Premier, but I can also see that a lot of people have problems with it? Just curious as to what most peple are using and why?"Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"
murrays 0 #2 December 22, 2002 Apple's iMovie .... excellent, easy to use program for DV editing. It integrates extremely well with Apple's Quicktime for creating web movies and for exporting to iDVD, Apple's consumer DVD burning program. It is free with all Macs, as is iDVD on Superdrive equipped Macs. Lots of plugins available from third parties at reasonable cost for transitions, special effects and titling. newshooter12 0 #4 December 23, 2002 I use Avid Express DV 3.5 (with the new updates). It's a solid system with lot of potential and doesn't have the quirks that some others do. Basically it's built and designed by editors for editors. matt

RichM 0 #8 December 23, 2002 QuoteJust curious as to what most peple are using and why? Premiere 6.5 as it's very powerful and about 1/4 the price of Avid. It does tend to be fussy/unreliable but I have fixed that by having a seperate partition just for editing with just WinXP and editing software installed.Rich M
SniperCJ 0 #9 December 23, 2002 Pinnacle Studio for just playing around, not professionally. Its easy to capture, edit and download. Easy is Good!
ltdiver 3 #10 December 23, 2002 Another vote for Mac's iMovie. Quick, easy to understand and use. In addition to the other Mac posts...Transports easily to Adobe Photoshop for still editing. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
freekflyguy 0 #11 December 23, 2002 Vegas Video 3c. Although I dont see many others in this forum using it. I used Premiere 6, Ulead MSP 5 and VV3 quite a bit before I decided to settle with VV3. The interface is very intuitive and if you RTFM and follow the tutorials youll be surprised just how quick you can pick it up. The real time preview is fantastic as is the titling, pan and crop and motion capabilities. As it is from sonic foundry the audio tools are also excellent. I found that Premiere was very flakey for capturing video (Firewire) and the generic titling was very poor. MSP 5 was very good but not quite as intuitive than V3. These are of course only my personal oppinions and I am sure someone else will give theirs. That said I edit tandem videos in camera, and dub music on whilst dumping down to tape. I dont use VV3 to produce videos for profit, but I have made a number of videos for friends and punters who have been impressed by the quality. You can get a demo of VV3 at http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step2.asp?DID=363 BuzzIt's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. flyhi 24 #12 December 23, 2002 Pinnacle Studio 8. Reason: It seemed to have a good rap here, I had zero knowledge about this stuff and trusted you guys, I picked it up on Ebay for $20 less than Amazon was selling it. I find it very easy to use, but I am not using it professionally. Just some fun video's...thus far. Appreciate all I have learned from this forum. Please keep talking and responding. I am not even conversant to the point where I can ask dumb questions yet. Mahalo.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.

motherhucker 0 #15 December 23, 2002 Final Cut Pro (Mac) is the only way to go. Based on the AVID system, super high quality. If you're hopelessly bound to Bill GAtes, The latest version of Premiere is your best bet. Premiere won't give you as polished a final, IMHO.
mountainman 0 #16 December 23, 2002 I have been using Premiere products for about two years now and I have only had one problem..yesterday. However, it was solved by a little research on my part and 10 minutes. I am very happy with Adobe products.http://www.brandonandlaura.com
Cajones 0 #17 January 9, 2003 I generally prefer Avid, for stability and efficiency. There are some plug-ins for Premiere that I use, and it can be very potent in the proper environment. Studio is a nice package, with intuitive tools, and packaged with a Firewire card is a very good value. iMovie reigns supreme for user friendliness and ease of use. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
