Trango wireless video broadcast systems

Recommended Posts

I'm curious to know what others think about this one. if you look at [url ] "www.markertek.com" markertek and look up trango, then eithther the falcon or the eagle. Looks like they have up to 7 mile line of sight antenae's and pretty compact in size. I think there possibility here in this. I'll wait a few thousand jumps before I find out. thoghts on these?

I'm thinking these are designed mostly for point-to-point terrestrial applications -- attached to buildings as such. One has a pretty impressively phallic antenna that I'm not certain I'd want attached to me in freefall. ;) Besides which, this all looks like it's pretty old analog technology, pretty bulky and highly directional at that.

Theres got to be somthing out there that can pull it off. I'd like to know what Tom Sanders rigged up for the Seoul olympics. If the price were manageable, one could probably get the sport in to some of the more traditional platforms, i.e. in the olympiics, not just opening them. searching web now. Sony Japan has it, I know they do.

I -know- they (Sony) don't.

Video transmission systems are part of what do for a living. It's my job to stay on top of this kind of thing and right now there's nothing out there that's inexpensive and good.

There -are- companies out there that I'm currently working with on the broadcast side of things. I've recently had very good success with a couple of very interesting products but nothing that would be inexpensive enough to justify it's use in "normal" competition.

Right now we're off by about a factor of 20 on the costs.

Of course, that's just my perspective. What would YOU be willing to fork out?

well, if I was up to speed skill wise, and had plenty of really good sponsors. I'd be kind enough to let them handle it. That cold be a pitch worded right. I'll provide your products capabilities incredible exposure. 1st systems free , and I get to keep it, and we can work out some licenceing agreements for all images captured and transmitted via this system.
Again if approached correctly perhaps they'd be willing to provide 4-8 of them for cameramen of all disscaiplines of proven perfomance to get exposure on an event scale, i.e. X-games

just a thought.

Sony Japan has it I know they do (wishfull thinking) Tokyo did seem to be 7 years ahead of everyone else last time I was there.

Well, it's a pitch that's worked at least -once- before, but I don't think many companies are going to go for it these days like they did way back when. Too much liability.

And I seriously doubt that any company would hand over $50,000 x 4 (or x 8) worth of stuff to a skydiver just for grins. ;) It would be a MAJOR deal.

BTW, skydiving is no longer in the X-Games. Hasn't been for a few years.

AND if there were such slots, then I think you, me and a whole bunch of folks are going to be in a very long line waiting for our turn. I can -guarantee- you ain't getting a slot before I am. ;) (I'm not denying your skills, but I'm -very- competitive!) ;)

Really ?! surely you jest. "stabbing self in head with fork w/a cork on the tongs"

"adjusts eye patch" and plots for the slot....
