Ramjet11 0 #1 December 31, 2002 Does anyone have any suggestions on lenses for freeflying....i.e. how wide? I shoot with a TRV-11 and a Canon Rebel Ti. I don't want any fisheye or vignette.
freeflir29 0 #2 January 1, 2003 QuoteI don't want any fisheye or vignette Then that really slims your choices if you aren't willing to zoom to get rid of these effects. I jump a Kenko .43 that has a significant amount of both UNLESS I bump the zoom in a little. Then there is no vignetting and very little fish eye. If you absolutely want none then it will have to be something like a .6 which isn't very wide or the SUPER WIDE Diamond .3. The .3 is an "Arms Length lens" No kidding.... PhreeZone 20 #3 January 1, 2003 Royal-lens also has the Diamond lens in .4,.5 and I think .6.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
rmcvey 0 #4 January 1, 2003 Does anyone use their video with just the factory lens??
Canuck 0 #5 January 1, 2003 I use the Sony .6 and am happy with it, but, I'm on a 182 dropzone and basically do one on ones and Tandem video. No fisheye, no vignette. Canuck
RichM 0 #6 January 2, 2003 I use a .5 with no vignette and the distortion is only really apparent with straight lines at the edge that are slightly warpedRich M
alain 0 #7 January 6, 2003 Quote Royal-lens also has the Diamond lens in .4,.5 and I think .6. do you now if a .5 would do a significantly better job than the .3 with a little zoom in? my point is: could the .3 be universal? ultra wide if you need it or "standard" with a little zoom in? alain
Deuce 1 #8 January 6, 2003 The .3 cannot be used universally. You can bump the zoom up to about a .6 but then it goes fuzzy and there's nothing you can do about it. I am a huge Diamond lens fan, but it's difficult to use them on the Sports shutter setting, which is really good for tandem video. I use a Kenko .5 for outside shooting and the .3 for inside. alain 0 #9 January 7, 2003 ok would have been cool though... do some of you know if the diamond .4 and .5 are going to be available anytime soon? alain

I've been using it on the sports setting. What problems have you been experiencing that I should be aware of?
Deuce 1 #11 January 7, 2003 With my 120 it just gets fuzzy like when you overzoom it. Max told me how to compensate, by setting the lens manually and then changing the shutter speed, but I haven't made the effort to really figure it out. My bad. But I have spent most of today editing Eloy footage, and the .3 is just the greatest inside lens made. Cajones, how do you edit down a WEEKS worth of footage into one tape? Man! Your Eloy tape is worth every penny. Editing is hard! JP
