cameramonkey 0 #1 January 20, 2003 I got some interesting info regarding my side mount and 4way video, and am strongly considering top mounting my PC5 for this upcoming season. Anyone used one of the PC5 roll cages? Do you like it? is it easy to remove the camera? How does the camera attach? does the camera bolt into the frame, or does it bolt THRU the frame, with the same bolt attaching the combined pieces to your helmet? I figured I would use a stroboframe QD plate to facilitate easy on-off, and wondered if anyone has tried that and how successful it was.Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO! I hadnt thought about it till Randy mentioned it. Makes perfect sense. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!

Zlew 0 #5 January 20, 2003 I jump a PC5, but have it in a D box. Roll cages are great for most cameras that are top mounted. I uesd to have a PC100 with roll cage side mount. Sucked because you had to take the cage off of the helmet every time you watned to take the tape out. I've never seen a PC5 roll cage, but I don't see you you could get the tape out with out a the very least taking the cage off of the helmet (i'ts a bottom feeder). You might e-mail Aerial focus and ask Tom if it is possible to do it otherwise (i don't see how, but they might have come up with something). A D-box is a great alternative. Very strong, and you can get the camera out quickly without any bolts or anything like that to change the tape. Z

Rdutch 0 #7 January 20, 2003 For Nationals this year, I wore 2 camera's one on top, and one side mounted. From the video you couldn't tell the difference which was which. I even had a bet with a team member about it and he couldn't tell the difference. Also the top mounted camera had a kenko .42 lens, and the side mount had a Sony .6 lens. Maybe you might get different result's, I thought about mounting top for the same reason, but I am much more comfortable with side mount for many reason's. cameramonkey 0 #8 January 22, 2003 I went side-mount originally to make it easier for the low clearance of cessna 182 doors. I would prefer the top mount (less riser slap, able to use larger batteries) but dont want to stick it out there without serious protection. I have a tendency to not keep my head down enough on climbout. Out of curiosity, what team do you fly for? I was up at nats too with team Airtight. I am sure you beat us, but hell, we just went to have fun. We were just happy we didnt place last. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO! Rdutch 0 #9 January 22, 2003 Tendency to not put my head down enough is the main reason I like side mount. Also I dont like the way the top mount sometime's gets caught in my slider, and using slink's it somtimes comes all the way down and gets caught up. I even tore a tiny hole in my slider with the roll cage I was using. I was on Team FROST at National's. I was there to have fun, they were seeking an average, no chance of beating Majic or Airspeed or the Knights. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
