rmcvey 0 #3 February 5, 2003 I would but i dont have a camera helmet deuce, i noticed your using a stroboframe QRC on the stills, only you have it lengthways (from front to back) as apposed to sideways (left to right)? I have a stroboframe for my TRV and was going to use it in the way you have, lengthways, and am curious how you go on with the stills? Does the cork pad give an acceptable grip?? and why didnt you put it sideways so the QRC plate covers more of the bottom surface of the camera??? Yeah, the cork does OK. The plate on the camera is torqued up pretty high, and I've used Lock-tite. I've also engrave a pair of lines on the bottom of the still camera to give a quick visual indication that it's aligned. I have it lengthwise because in the side-to-side configuration it sticks out a little past either side of the platform. It looks cleaner and has less snag appeal when I don't have the camera on. deaffreeflyer 0 #8 February 6, 2003 Nice work! Is that camera box - Debox Cookie from Cookie Composites? How secure is it? Will it attach on Optix no problem? I can't see how you made cutaway system on your Mindwarp. Please can you tell me how do it set up etc... and any chance for close-up pix on your cutaway system? deaffreeflyer 0 #10 February 6, 2003 That's great work you have done! Why don't you share it on skydiving magazine and other magazines? One question I would like to ask you. Where do you put spring in? Inside the helmet or between ratchet strap and outside shell of helmet?
PhreeZone 20 #11 February 6, 2003 I've got it inside the helmet between the helmet and the inside pin. I jsut recently got another spring to put between the helmet and the strap but I haven't installed it yet to see if the pull force goes up too much. I'm also in the process of getting cutaway cable to replace one of the pins with something more flexible. If anyone wants to use it... just use it. I could care less about getting it published since I've seen better systems out there. I originally built that design as a system that would prevent part loss at cutaway, but I've got a better idea I'm thinking about now. Stand by for version 2.0 before the jump season returns.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Deuce 1 #12 February 6, 2003 Phree, I just want to say thanks for putting that out there. Too many people keep their innovations to themselves, and you may just save a camera flyer's life. Very cool.

I can't see how you made cutaway system on your Mindwarp. Please can you tell me how do it set up etc... and any chance for close-up pix on your cutaway system? Yes, it is a Cookie D-Box. I am confident it is not going anywhere. I would guess that mounting it on an Optix would be no prob. For my cutaway I used some 3/8" nylon webbing (actually it came from the existing camera strap had to remove it cause it fits the box so closely). I took one end and passed it through the loop in the cotter pin and sewed it down. then took the other end and formed a loop and sewed it and attached some velcro as well. I put some gaffers tape over this part cause I do not think the velcro will hold up as narrow as the webbing is.
cameramonkey 0 #14 February 6, 2003 where did you find the spring for your cutaway? I considered building a cutaway for my helmet, but in my casual search, I havent found a good place for the spring.
PhreeZone 20 #15 February 6, 2003 Z1 helmet. A parts kit is about $5, but all you need to do is find someone replacing thiers and take the old springs.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
cameramonkey 0 #16 February 6, 2003 I was afraid you would say something like that. parasport isnt very easy to deal with. a 4 month turnaround is considered fast for them when dealing with warranty issues.
