MontyPyhton 0 #1 March 10, 2003 I know, both are great rigs on the market. And both are circa the same price when full loaded. Which has the better reserve deployment / pin protection? And which is better, OR which looks better when there are big canopies (Spectre 210 & PD 193 R) in it? I don't want to buy a gear that looks like a student gear!! brabzzz 0 #2 March 10, 2003 I'm not sure what the situation in Germany is, but in the UK the wings is the more expensive of the two when fully loaded if bought through a dealer here! The TdSf has SS as standard and no long list of 'colour stripes and piping' costs. On the other hand, from what I've found, both are excellent containers (i'm about to order one - not sure which yet, with a 170 or 190 - depeding on delivery time). If you get the Wings delivered from the US (even having paid delivery and tax), the prices of the two are them very similar. Well at least he didn't go out looking like a student. Sheesh.

Chris If you agree in ANY case, then you should agree most of all here. This is where it begins. What's the first thing you do after your "A" license. You start looking for gear. This IS the :Gear and Rigging thread. I was using logic to break this chain of looking kool versus flying and landing well in the choice of gear desicion-making. Thank you for your opinion and voice of experience.
Slowfaller 0 #6 March 11, 2003 I totally understand where you are coming from it's just that maybe the student gear is old and the bridle is exposed or something like that. Not all student gear is in that great of condition. Also, to my knowledge, Wings containers or Teardrops are both very safe. It'd be different if he's asking about a Velocity 90 because they look cooler than Sabre 2 190 right? I apologize. It really was done on purpose and meant to inflame, but not to harbor grudge. All too often, folks are in a hurry to buy something and aren't thinking about what's best for them as individuals, but what's kewl. Admit it. Right? So, now here's my real answer. Henri (Owner of Wings) has been designing rigs for a thousand years (including the Javelin). The Wings container is going to provide you a custom fit for whatever size canopy you place in them. I can tell you that the Wings container will house and make a 229 main with a 249-M reserve look good on your back. So, my answer is Wings. Safe landings all.... riggerrob 643 #9 March 11, 2003 Both containers are good and the Teardrop is the best of the Pop-tops, but if I had the cash right now, I would order a Wings, if only because the Wings reserve is easier to pack.
trigger 0 #10 March 11, 2003 Have a look at the"Parachutes de France" LEGEND, very good rig..safe,freefly friendly and most important, looks kooll.Long waiting list though.or consider something 2nd hand always a wise if not sooo kool option if your just off student status..CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. MontyPyhton 0 #11 March 11, 2003 QuoteHave a look at the"Parachutes de France" LEGEND, very good rig..safe,freefly friendly and most important, looks kooll. Yeah yeah, Legend looks really great. But the bridle protection of Tear Drop SF or Wings is the same like the Mirage. I think the Tear Drop SF is the safest rig on the market because it has a massive metal pop top (not covered by any flap) and it has the best pin (main/reserve) protection compared to ALL other rigs on the market (same bridle/main pin protection like Mirage, BEST bullet proof reserve pin protection, because the reserve pin is behind your back). Only fools equate safety with uglyness. Is a Spectre 0,9 loaded a winged beast? So the truth is anywhere in the middle
