dv to divx compression - need help yet again

Recommended Posts

since you guys helped me a LOT to understand video editing with premiere, i'm going to ask you for yet another favour:

for past 3 days i am slamming my head against the desk :S, 'cause i just don't manage to convert the video i made in premiere into divx format >:(
it has 1,4 Gb and 6min15sec, which is tooooo much...

i tried to do it with VirtualDub, but the pc constanly spited my face with the message: dvsd format not supported... so please, what should i do???

(in the past 36 hours i formatted my system disk and installed the windows 2 times, 'cause everytime i installed some codecs, premiere started exporting clips with lots of horizontal lines... i tried to remove the codecs from the control panel with add/remove programms, but it didn't work... i tried to remove the from the System - Device Manager, but it didn't work... i deleted the from the regedit, which worked in a way but didn't fix the export problem...) --> just to let you know how dumb i am :S:S:S:P

PLEASE, HELP?!?!!

I might be being stupid here, but if you have the DivX encoder (as oppposed to just the free decoder) then why don't you just select DivX as the encoder when you export the timeline/workarea from Premiere? I do this all the time with no problems. (Prem 6 & 6.5, DivX 5.02)?

stupid? you? no way man, i'm the one who is stupid here, in fact, i'm a real nut case :S:P, and each time i think of video clips, it get's WORSE!!!! ;)

i followed your advice: i went ahead and exported the timeline, set the export type as microsoft avi, and selected divx as the compressor in the video settings. i also set the bitrate as the highest, hoping that this would not affect the quality of the final clip. but, i got vertical lines....

in fact, if i use any other export type then microsoft dv avi, i get thoes motherf***** vertical lines[/]

i warn you in advance: if you see, hear or read aything strange, imoral or offending in this post, it is not my fault, it's just one beer and a spiff too much :P:P

I MADE IT!!! WITH A LOT OF HELP FROM EVERYONE AT DZ.COM!!!!!!!!!!!!

really guys and girly, as strange as it my read :P, each and everyone herre contributed to my succes in the video processing field of skydiving!!!!!!! :)
i really made it!!!!! my divx has absolutely no vertical lines, in fact, the divx (through my drunk and stoned ;)B| eyes) is even better as the original dv avi!!!! and even though it is 2 am here, i'm jumping and screaming up and down my room!!!!!!!!!

all i did is: i downloaded the codec that monsterchute said it would work, set vdub to:

video: full processing mode, selected divx pro 5.02 as the codec; set divx to 1-pass; the highest possible bitrate, selected bidirectional encoding, pre-processing source to extreme, and that all frames are interlaced

audio: the same as video ;):P:D:D:)
and finally: save as avi: padli_2_drunk_divx!!!!!!

YIPIAAAAAAAAAAEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!

Simple Problem, had that too.

Win2k and probalby Win XP don't have a VfW compatible DV codec. But Vdub needs it.

Download a VfW DV Codec from:
http://www.mainconcept.com/downloads.shtml

Thats it.

I need the exact same codec als topicstrater here and after looking with google i found this topic.. didn't have to look far now did I? ;)

anyway, on the site you give I do find an appropriate codec (Video for Windows codecs so nandub can use it) but it's like $49 for a codec or you can buy a demo version but that one has a watermark in it.
And no way I'm gonna pay $49 for these 2 jump video's.
So, anybody got a codec that's VfW compatible and is free?!
