PhreeZone 20 #1 February 25, 2003 What program does everyone use when they want to toss something on the web and what settings do you use? I'm using the new encoded from Microsoft but it just seems so slow compaired to what others seem to be saying how long theirs takes.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Unutsch 0 #2 February 25, 2003 maybe i got your question wrong, but i'll go ahead and tell you what i do: i use virtual dub and encode my edited dv avis with divx pro 5.02 codec for encoding. i managed to get a 1,4Gb clip to 20 Mb, but with VERY poor quality (as soon as i upload it somewhere, i'll show off with it here ) Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org
murrays 0 #3 February 25, 2003 Quicktime Pro. Lots of options as far as codecs, webstreaming, etc, etc. For $29, it's a pretty handy tool to have. You can make the quality as good or minimal as you like by choosing different codecs, frame rates, key frame rates, size, etc. You can also set the bit rate. Quite a few of the really good quality videos on headdown.net are in Quicktime format. Base Forever and Castles in the Sky being favourites of mine. I actually exported the two foregoing videos as DV files (using Quicktime) and burned them to DVD so that I could watch them on my TV. The quality is very good considering they started as fairly small files.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
mountainman 0 #4 February 25, 2003 Hey Phree: I use the Advanced Windows Media encoder with Premiere 6.5. I usually use the 3xxkb/s setting on that. It seems to be around 2mb/min. Not too shabby with decent quality. Just remember the #1 rule of web video: REAL MEDIA SUCKS !!! http://www.brandonandlaura.com
