rmcvey 0 #1 February 27, 2003 just got my top mount and chincup for my bonehead. have also got a stroboframe quick release for my sony trv. now, mounting the video with the thumbscrew looks very apppealing, video lies flush with the top mount, looks safer, less height to the helmet. but with the stroboframe (which, as my video is a bottom loader will save alot of messing around) there is a 3/4 " gap betweem my camera and the flat top. this concerns me. Anyone use this kind of set up or have any opinions on it?? im think it may be safer to just use the thumbscrew. thanks.
quade 4 #2 February 27, 2003 Have you actually tried loading and unloading a tape with the stoboframe bottom plate attached to the TRV? Certainly doesn't work for my cameras. Far easier to deal with would be a Bonehead dBox.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
CaTo 0 #3 February 27, 2003 I use the stroboframe in combination with a (selfmade) lens-holder for my TRV (to make sure the lens can not catch any lines) because of that, it is less possible to catch lines because of the stroboframe... pff, let me draw you a picture, I can not make a good photo now... Hope you'll understand. By the way, the lensholder is fixed with four screws to the flat top pro by the way: blue = TRV green = stroboframe black = lens holder and in reply to quade: you are right: switching tapes is not a lot of fun.... BoobieCootie 0 #4 February 27, 2003 I see what you're saying. The gap between the camera and the top mount is that of the stroboframe's thickness. I think there's a less chance of the lines snaging horizontally on the top as they'd be vertical and hitting your sides during deployment. But that's just my guess.
