X-Jaket or D-Box

Them DeBox looks good. No price on their website though[:/]

I take it you've used one of these? The only picture I've seen of it in action is this.

It looks slimmer than Bonehead's, and was wondering if the X-Jaket is too. Although I wonder about the padding because they're both so slim.

I have one of Cookies boxes for the PC-101 and it is very nice. Fits like a glove. Padding with mine is not really necessary since it has a thumbscrew at the bottom that holds the camera off any of the box surfaces, although I did add a couple strips of this 3/32"thick 1/8" wide sticky back foam just to offer some protection when taking the camera in and out of the box. With my box if I was to use one of the Diamond .3 lenses or one of Way Cool red or blue lenses it would be fully contained within the box. Oh, I paid $170.00 USD total to the states with shipping taking about 6 days.

I wonder if those lenses would able to see inside edge of box when video a jump? Like vignette but it come from the box.

The lense would come exactly flush with the front edge of the openingB|. The .45 (Way Cool)should not be a problem, although a .3 might barely catch the edge of my helmet in the field of view, but I can't be too sure. If this was the case I would just move the box forward a bit. I do not have any intentions of using a .3 for quite a while if ever?? so I am not gonna worry about it right now.

Cookie emailed me with a quote and I'm now deciding between Cookie's and Bonehead's.

As I understand, Bonehead has one specifically for the PC5 and PC9 that's supposedly slimmer and shorter (height wise) except for a bulge to accomodate larger 'S' batteries. Otherwise, their "generic" larger box could accomodate any PC style camera.

Cookie's on the other hand doesn't have this bulge and I could care less about using a larger battery. It looks more compact, and flush all around. The only thing is I've never seen it up close.

Considering they cost about the same, which one has your vote?

I could not be more happy with Cookie's box, it is flush all around. My PC-101 would not fit in this box if the camera was any larger (and it is small) which is good IMHO since I do not have any added bulk to the side of my helmet. I am not sure how the PC-9 and 5 compare in size to the 101 and I have not see Boneheads PC 5 and 9 box up close. I vote Cookie but this is a biased since I have not had experience with the other models of boxes and cameras. Before I forget, if Boneheads boxes do not have any way to secure the camera with a thumbscrew in the bottom I would rule them out period...A jumper at our DZ lost his camera at WFFC and it likely would not have happened if it was secured by a screw, I think it was not possible to use one on his box[:/]

All other things equal, I'd go for the Bonehead - with the battery bulge. Sony "S" batteries suck. The extra capacity batteries are still less than the standard capacity "M" batteries.

You may not care about extra battery capacity now, but when you are changing your battery every-other-jump, it becomes a factor.

The laws of physics are strictly enforced.

>but when you are changing your battery every-other-jump...

then you may need a new battery ?
just a question, I'm not prentending to teach you anytrhing on that topic ;)

do NP-FM 50 last longer than NP-FM 30 ? I mean is it able to make more jumps in it's life time ?
