Kopko 0 #1 May 11, 2003 I will be purchasing a new laptop in the near future and would like to know what others have and are using for editing. As I progress in flying camera I would like to have the necessary equipment. I am interested in the model you prefer, as well as the specs you think are needed for video editing etc… Thanks
dragon 0 #2 May 11, 2003 I've got a Gateway 600 YGR with a 15.7" screen. I wasn't sure how I'd like carrying it around being so big, but I got a backpack case for it and love having the big screen. I have no problems with the speed either. If you're doing video editing I'd get as much memory as you can afford. My .

Added another 256 MB DDR (necessary for photo/video editing) and a firewire/USB2.0 200 GB (!) 7200 RPM harddisk to it. All set. It isn´t the top model Vaio by far, but I´m really happy with my new setup. ciel bleu, Saskia

ledders 0 #7 May 14, 2003 Kopko - you may like to see my thread from a couple of days ago called digital video editing (or something like that). I have just started editing using my new Toshiba Satellite laptop and am losing frames. I have had helpful responses from other people that might stop you having the same probs as me. I edit using MS Moviemaker 2 (its a free download and VERY simple to use - but does not count dropped frames) on a 2.4GHz, 512 Mb RAM 25 Gb storage machine. I use a firewire link between my PC9 and the laptop, and download the edit to the camera then on to VHS (if thats what people want, or direct to DVD on the computer).
