freeflyguy 0 #26 June 10, 2003 QuoteOk, enough of this shop talk. Pulling this thread back on track... heh heh sorry. I love the laser. Mine is a tiny one on the bottom of my mount. I open the screen, fire the laser, see that it is in the center of the screen. It is locked down, so it won't move. Then when it is on my head, a quick push of the laser button tells me where the camera is looking. So yeah, it has to stay lined up with the camera, but the way I mount it, it does. I am fairly new to video, but it is cool. It takes any worry out of me as to if I am sited in. There is plenty else to think about. Oh, buy the Sony. The're all good. ---------------------------- bzzzz

VisionAir 0 #28 August 13, 2003 Another idea that I use which is more accurate then the buddy system, but can't be checked on the way to the plane is to use a long A/V wire (made with using 2 wires and a female/female connector) to plug into the tv while wearing the helmet. I then pick a spot and view it right on the tv by just shifting my eyes. Stand the same distance to the spot as you plan to be flying from your subject. You can fine tune it by zooming in on the spot. Also know that when your closer to your subject then planned you will need to look slightly lower and when farther away then planned you will need to look slightly higher. At least that's what I've experienced. Huh?!? What cloud?!? Oh that!!! That's just Industrial Haze Alex M.
akarunway 1 #29 August 14, 2003 been playing w/ my trv27. the laser works really well. you can buy the mini lasers at costco, lowe's or home depot. best deal costco 15$ you get a 18 inch laser level for the house plus a mini w/screwdriver attachments . two part epoxy beats the hell out of duct tape. buy two and attach one to the camera. site like you would a glock. firearm instructor once told me " It isn't the weapon, it's you."I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. pyke 0 #30 August 15, 2003 Quade - that has got to be one of the most ingenious methods for sighting a camera!!! Still, don't you think it would be easier/faster to find someone (possibly another camera flyer) at your dz and get them to sight for you? Having sighted for others before - it really isn't that difficult and takes about 1/8 of the time your method does. I guess you have lame people at your dz, but MAN what a mission just to sight your camera!! Reliability would never be an issue though! Still - if you're the only video flyer at your dz - I can see how this would be brilliant!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr.
