camera question??

I just got my new Sony DCR-IP5 and was wondering what lens i should buy that would work best in filming Freefly jumps? Any help would be good.

.3 is great if your staying with in about 3-4 feet the whole jump, the .5 is better if your at the more typical 8-10 feet distance.

Yes.

I basically think of the two as my inside and outside lenses. If you are "in" the skydive, the .3 is best. It's even really good for inside 4 way, cause you can usually see three grips. It's good for linked exits and FF at docking distance.

The .5 is good for tandems and RW and being outside of FF formations.

If you can only get one, maybe consider the .3 and zoom it to adjust for your anticipated distance. You can zoom the .3 to about a .6, but after that is goes blurry and there's nothing to be done about it.

There's another low-profile single-element lens out there by Waycool, but I don't have any experience with it.

Well, for the sake of postwhorage, I must say that I've had quite a bit of contact with Mr. Maxwell Cohn, and his customer service is top notch.

But after you talk with him, he's really much more of a "Max!" as in "Hey, Max! Great sh*t, dude!", than his business cards "Maxwell", although Maxwell has tremendous secret agent name potential.

Just a quick thought. Make sure you got the right thread size. My 120 is a 37mm and I know there is another size.

But I'm sure Max asked what camera it is you're using.

yes i got an answering machine so not really ordered yet but i was looking at that....tryin to figure my thread size. it has a few numbers around the lens now ....1,7/2,3-23....does that have something to do with it?

ok just got off the phone with the manufacture....the IP5 is a 30mm camera but he is back logged on 30mm and since he wouldnt be able to get it to me by the 4th of july i just got a 37mm lens with the 37mm-30mm atachment ring...ready to jump byt next weekend ROCK ON!
