skydiven4fun 0 #1 June 22, 2003 Ok, I just bit the bullit, I just puchased a new Trv 22 and a new sony lap top, I went all out on the lap top, and it has all the latest a greatest, my queston is what should I do to as far as soft ware, I will be using firewire to transfer to the computor and Thats about as far as I have got, I am still very new to the whole process, so I know I have a long way to go, But I figured that I would throw this one out here for input. The computor comes with editing software but should I go ahead and buy something else and start off learning it ?Still here after all these years Clayton
LouDiamond 1 #2 June 22, 2003 Well the "best" software could be debated a good deal. So instead of going down that road lets say that Premiere is pretty high on the list of programs used for editing video. The learning curve is pretty steep in comparrison to other programs out there like Pinnacle Studio 7/8, Ulead and so on. I imagine you could probablly make due with the editing software that came with the computer (movie maker?)for awhile but in time you'd probablly want more control and features found on the programs I mentioned. There are several programs out there and most have a favorite that they prefer for their specific reasons. If you have the time and want a program you can "grow" into then I'd say go the Premier route."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

As a new user (TRV33) I was in much the same position, and I got Premiere not after any features comparison, but due to our having a site license so it was cheap. My comments are directed at the "steep" learning curve statement: it indeed took me a little while to get into the mindset of the Adobe programmers, BUT once I bit the bullet and read the manual it all worked just the way the manual said it would. In fact, the online help really describes everything pretty well. If you just install it and try to use it you will not make progress. If you RTFM it is really pretty easy, certainly no more difficult than the cr@ppy program that came with the camera.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. LouDiamond 1 #4 June 22, 2003 QuoteMy comments are directed at the "steep" learning curve statement: My Comment is directed at the comment about the steep learning curve comment, comment. If you notice, I said "in comparrison" to the other programs mentioned, which are a lot more intuitive than Premier is right out of the box. One shouldn't have to read the instructions from cover to cover in order to make it work as designed if it is designed for use by the average person. However, the Premier software is more high end than many of the other programs mentioned and does require one to spend some time reading to fully utilize it to it's max."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
skydiven4fun 0 #5 June 24, 2003 Thanks for the input, I work offshore and I am gone 2 weeks then I am off for 2 weeks so I will have plenty of time while at work to do a lot of reading, My brother inlaw just bought Adobe Premier, so I am going to load it up when I get in this Wed, and begin playing with it. I think I would rather learn a good program out the gate then have to relearn something all over, Thanks again.Still here after all these years Clayton
