stilettodude 0 #1 March 18, 2003 CAN YOU TURN CYPRESS OFF OR DO YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO TURN ITSELF OFF, AFTER THE 12HRS. ( I THINK) WITH NO PRESSURE CHANGE??? Philip "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?"
Jib 0 #2 March 18, 2003 It's the same as turning it on. http://www.pia.com/SSK/cypres/english_users.pdf see page 19 -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Hooknswoop 19 #3 March 18, 2003 Same process to turn it off as to turn it on. Unless you are changing a good bit of elevation on the way home, enough that it thinks you are climbing in an aircraft, let it turn itself off (after 14 hours, regardless of pressure change). eddytheeagle 0 #4 March 18, 2003 You can turn a cypress off in exactly the same way as you turn it on. It will switch itself of 14 hours after you turned it on.Don't underestimate your ability to screw up!

cheneyneel 0 #6 March 18, 2003 it takes more battery power to turn it off than it does letting it turn off by itself... Something to think about...
freakyflyr11 0 #7 March 18, 2003 i agree unless you are changing altitude alot going home you may want to just leave it on and let its self turn off youll save battery life that way
grasshopper 0 #8 March 18, 2003 Quote youll save battery life that way is anyone actually having their batteries not last 2 years or 500 jumps? we have seen this debate many times and it looks to me like one thing that just doesn't matter either way. we are talking about wear by shutting it off, but some people have to cycle their cypres off and on every jump (lz not on airport like at monterey).
 councilman24 37 #14 March 18, 2003 In my case yes. I have seen batteries not last 2 years OR 500 jumps. There was a batch of batteries a few years ago that were substandard. Airtec recognized it and provided prorated replacements if they died substantially early. The French company that made the batteries never admitted they were bad. I've also seen other batteries, not in the time frame of the bad batteries, die early. TerryI'm old for my age.
