jdhill 0 #1 July 17, 2003 Most of you probably know, Adobe will not longer be making video products for Mac (as of now they will still make their other stuff like Photoshop...). So what does that mean to those of us who use Premier because we want more than iMovie can do, but dont want to shell out $1K for Final Cut Pro? You may have heard about Final Cut Express, a trimmed down version of FCP, well, you can now get it for FREE! You can also get a $500 rebate on FCP 4. See details here. I'll be sending off my old window version tonight! slayer21016 2 #2 July 17, 2003 I just upgraded from Final Cut Pro 3 to 4 and $500 for FCP4 is an awesome deal for those wanting an Emmy award winning program. Live Type, Soundtrack, Cinema Tools and Compressor are worth $500 alone and come with FCP4. my upgrade to FCP4 cost $400 alone so i think this is a great deal for every one else. Final Cut Express can seem intimidating at first if your use to IMovies/Premier but is the stepping stone to Pro, any book written about Final Cut Pro will teach you Express as the interface is the same. and the apple site has very good tutorials for Express and Pro. This is a great deal for those on Macs If any one has any Final Cut Express or FCP4 questions ill be glad to answer your questions if i can just e-mail me. nacmacfeegle 0 #5 July 18, 2003 Thanks for the heads up Josh..Any Mac users in the UK who may have a use for redundant Premiere install discs (4.2, and the ill fated 5.0) give me a PM.... I'm sure we can come to an amicable agrement....-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. howardwhite 6 #7 August 10, 2003 The Apple Macintosh support forum/discussions has a pretty good set of questions and answers and is also a good place to ask questions. iMovie has a couple of things I prefer over FCE, but not many. Be patient; it takes some learning. OTOH you really don't need to know all about garbage mattes and keyframing to do good work with FCE. HW
