Squeak 17 #1 March 19, 2003 Well as some of you already know, I got my Hornet yesterday My question is in relation to the slider, I'm currently jumping an Eletra 170 and the slider on it is about 1/3 smaller than the slider on the hornet. Man it looks big, are all Hornet slider BIGYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? Poczynek 0 #2 March 19, 2003 Hi Squeak, I have had several Hornets - they substantially increased the slider size a couple of years ago to address Hornet opening issues - tended to smack ya. CheersQuotephat, dumb & happy
 skygod7777 0 #3 March 19, 2003 ya, the hornets sliders are quite large, don't worry about it it will open...................hopefully later
 fudd 0 #4 March 19, 2003 My hornet slider is huge too, and it opens great There are only 10 types of people in the world. But I do think the large size has cleared up issues of hard openings that had been reported on Hornets. My 170 opens up nice and soft. Have fun. A little difficult to reach for us less evolved in the arm dept. It's a little unweildy to collapse, but openings are nice and soft, so I'm not complaining. I'm not sure what to do. Skydiving is for cool people only
 SkydiveMonkey 0 #11 March 22, 2003 How do you pack? Leave the nose open, and make sure the slider is quartered and exposed. If you loosen the chest strap, it will make it easier to reach the slider (and install slinks if you don't already have them) ____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
 PhreeZone 20 #12 March 23, 2003 If it catches wind while in flight there is'nt much packing can do to help that. Plus lossening your chest strap should not be reccommended to pilots that don't need it to be done for other reasons. Pulling the slider behind the head can assist in these issues, but that should really be a first try solution either.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
 Scoby 0 #13 March 23, 2003 You can't reach the tabs to collapse it or you can't reach it at all? If it's the first case, you can pull it down over the links and then collapse it. If it's the second, I don't really know. Does that always happen? I use Atom(frence i think)risers at my Javerlin,it works great but beaware that Atom risers need pull force to cut away a main(the treering is hide). But im sure Javerlin or some one else would have apair of shorter risers. To the Slider issue: I also had a BIG slider at my xfire,it gave me 300m openings too soft to me,so we(me and my rigger)made the slider shorter(not an hole in it),now it opens normaly(150-200m).I do belive the same could bedone to Hornet,if they against normal, opens too soft Stay safe Stefan Faber
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
