mirochristie 0 #1 August 19, 2003 A skydiver friend just bought a Sony IP5 and a BoneHead DBox but the record button is on the side that goes to the helmet (in) and its impossible to turn the camera on without opening the box. Thought about: •CamEye II but the plug doesn't match with the camera. • Switching the Box to the other side of the helmet and drilling a hole on side, but don't want to try that option. • Buying an L bracket, but already bought the DBox. Anyone with an IP5 have asugestions on what to do?LiquidSky @(^_^)@
PhreeZone 20 #2 August 19, 2003 Ditch the IP5 and get a PC series Camera... there is nothing good I've seen on a IP that would make me want to give up a DV camera. There are more issues then just turning it on that you need to worry about... like exporting it can only be done to another MV format camera. Computer editing is still flakey at best for it.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
LouDiamond 1 #3 August 19, 2003 Ditto, it's a totaly waste of time to try and take it into the sky. Just ask MattM and Dagimp about the IP5 and their problems."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
YM4 0 #4 August 19, 2003 He is a local at my DZ We told him that camera wasn't good for skydiving but he wanted it because it was small. How small? Like if it made a big difference! So many good models out there, and he buys the little toy well..... Ill make shure he read your replies so he can have an idea about the waist of $$$ Thanks, Julio YM4 (Love you Christie)[:)"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, It's the size of the fight in the dog!" The IP5 is basically crap for skydiving. Lack of firewire capability will be the next thing that gets him as well as the poor ergonomic design of the mode switch - it's not multiposition for VCR and Camera, it's a "soft" switch that cycles it through the modes. Without a cam eye it could easily be in "vcr" mode when you want it in "camera".
mirochristie 0 #6 August 22, 2003 Thank You. And NO, he doesn`t check these Forums. He should. I FWD this relies to him and he decided that he is going to buy a new helmet. One for camera use and his Gath for fun jumps. I think he already order an L bracket and all. I think he is going to get an Optik helmet or Hawkeye. I really don`t know. Thank you anyways.LiquidSky @(^_^)@
