SteadyCam Usage

Recommended Posts

OK,
Did a quick search and didn't find much on this. Overheard the other day someone saying the SteadyCam feature should be turned off for skydiving, that it can make the image worse by chasing after it. News to me and mine has always been on. Curious if you all are jumping with or without it.
Thanks!
Billy

SteadiCam is a system of camera mounting platforms worn or held by camera operators.

SteadyShot is a registered trademark of Sony to indicate a specific thechnology they use for in-camera image stabilization. Electronic sensors built into the camera measure and compensate for camera shake by reading various portions of the imaging chip to create the final image.

IF you wanted to have the highest quality image on the ground AND your camera was mounted on a tripod, I would suggest turning off the SteadyShot feature. However, whenever you are going hand-held or skydiving, the SteadyShot really helps smooth out the shakiness of your hand or helmet.
