vdschoor 0 #26 April 20, 2004 QuoteI am getting the 300D for tandems and small freeflys. I would like to get a good quality card that I can use in another "higher" quality camera like the 10D. On B&H the Sandisk 512 Ultra II Compact is $119, and the Sandisk 512 Ultra Compact is $139. If the Ultra II is the newer card, why is it more expensive? And lastly, the feared question.......has there been a revelation of opinion on these cards which has led to one card being the best performing card? If so, which one is it? Thanks. I think people have their personal favorites when it comes to CF cards. You can't go wrong with the Ultra II cards. One thing regarding the size, the 512 is very nice, but for practical reasons I bought 256MB cards. These hold about 77 shots, which works out perfect for a tandem photoshoot (at least for me) What I do is I drop the card off at the video concession, they burn it onto a CD and I put my other card in there and go for the next customer. Regarding speed.. where you are going to see the real speed of this card compared to other cards is when you are downloading the images or viewing them on the camera. There is a huge difference between the Ultra II cards and the "normal" Sandisk CF cards. I would recommend getting 2 or 3 256 MB cards for tandem photos. New models come with new (and generally lower) MSRPs, promotions, just bad pricing...I don't think the CF pricing market is very sane, you just grab a good deal when you see it. I tend to go for the best deal that doesn't involve a mail in rebate, given my luck getting those paid.

I said more expensive, but I meant LESS expensive. Damn......that should clear things up. Doenst really matter now, I got the 512 ultraII from Sandisk for $129.
