"Hmmm, they look just as good, and they are $200 cheaper than a Sony. Yeah, I'll get this." One year later and I'm using a Sony. I had multiple problems with my JVC. Everything from tape problems to software and programming difficulties. I even had some maintenance guys from the factory tell me that my camera was screwed. Bottom line, don't buy a JVC with the intent on using it for ....well, anything. True story----a friend of mine bought a JVC about two years ago..He used it a bunch doing deer hunting videos and family stuff. He decides that he wanted to take it skydiving...well, I tried to warn him about the issues I had. He says he just wants to use it for practice and to learn some skills....Okay, no problem. Wags 0 #6 October 10, 2003 If I remember correctly you have to pull the viewfinder out every time you use a JVC. I know that's the way they used to be, but don't know if that's still true. If it gets bumped during a jump, it will shut off. Another thing I heard about them (at least in the past.) is that they reset all the settings to the factory settings every time they are shut off, (like manual focus) so you have to remember to set it all up each time. Does anyone know if this is still true? I have a Sony PC-7 It's at least 5 years old, and it's been used by 5 different guys. It's even been in a skiing accident. docbill 0 #7 October 12, 2003 Had 20 or so jumps with my JVC before I started loosing vids to camera problems. 400+ with my Sony and (knock wood) no problems other than breaking off my cameye II connector in the LANC port.
