ltdiver 3 #26 December 13, 2003 QuoteWhat problems have you found with the Kit Lens? Seems like it's plenty wide. If you did a simple search on this forum, you might come up with this reply. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
turtlespeed 220 #27 March 16, 2004 QuoteQuoteDo the switches from Conceptus fitted with the stereo plug avoid all these issues? Yes it does, I have the switch with the stereo plug now and the problem is gone.. Sorry for not updating this thread. The one I have is an unmodified switch from Conceptus, they do make them with the stereo plug, and that fixes it all. Iwan Ok, so if I read all of this right, I need to cut and modify my tounge switch to get the performance out of it. Questions: 1) Does the camera still auto focus with the new wiring? 2) If so, is it continuous as with the tongeswitch I have now? 3) If not is there something I need to do different? 4) Is it usual that a "metallic" energized taste should be in in my mouth while using the switch. ( I could be imagining things)I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
vdschoor 0 #28 March 16, 2004 Quote Ok, so if I read all of this right, I need to cut and modify my tounge switch to get the performance out of it. Do not cut the wires.. "custom" made wiring will mess up the digital camera and you will not be able to trust your switch. It will fail on you when you think you have the shot... Get in touch with Conceptus (or your local gear store) and buy the stock switch with the stereo plug allready on it. Quote Questions: 1) Does the camera still auto focus with the new wiring? Yes it should, but I don't use autofocus in freefall. I can test this out if you want to? Quote 2) If so, is it continuous as with the tongeswitch I have now? It is not continuous.. I know with the mono plug it is trying to focus continuously.. It will focus when you press the switch is what I assume.. again, I will test this tonight. Quote 3) If not is there something I need to do different? I'll try to find out for you. Quote 4) Is it usual that a "metallic" energized taste should be in in my mouth while using the switch. ( I could be imagining things) I don't know.. I haven't experienced this.. so I would say you are imagining things Iwan
rigga 0 #29 March 17, 2004 Hi there, I shoot using TV - 500 with a tongue switch from these guys... http://www.conceptusinc.com/tongueswitch.htm ...which has a 2.5mm plug on it. I've found that by supergluing a small nut over the switch input on the camera (of about 3-4mm thick) it stops the jack going as deep in the socket. As a result it merrily clicks away using the settings you want rather than resulting to sport mode and you can fire off a number of shots without the buffer refresh getting in the way too much. Certainly a nicer option than re-wiring! Every day is a school day... Andy
DaGimp 0 #30 March 20, 2004 I just got an e-mail from Ed at Conceptus inc...refrance to the Mono plug bite switch. Ok i have the digital rebel, and in Tv mode it will only fire once....but if you set your exposeure mode to continuos mode it will fire just fine....shutter speed of 500. I tested this and it worked. to change your exposeure just hit the button next to the on/off switch tillthe picture in the display goes to what looks like some stacked pages. You'll know what i mean when you mess with it."Professor of Pimpology"~~~Bolas
LouDiamond 1 #31 March 20, 2004 I seem to remember trying that and it does work but the problem is that it snaps off a series of pictures and then you have the lag time while the card is being written to that you cannot take photos. It doesn't seem like a long time on the ground but it's long enough to loose other good shots, especially when doing tandems. If you want I can get with you and solder up a stereo plug for you so you can shoot in Tv with no issues. It takes me about 20 mins to do it if you have an existing switch."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
