Cam Eye II

Recommended Posts

My Cam Eye II is mounted on the right side of my Optik and it is really uncomfortable when the helmet is on and tight. The Cam Eye is sunk into the shell maybe a little too much and the main part of the unit is pushing really hard against the side of my head into my temple. Anyway, it is really annoying and I have only jumped the thing twice. So, my question is. Can I take off the cam eye backing and make the unit a little more flat? Or, where should I move the unit? I saw instructions a while ago on the internet telling how to take the backing off, but I can't find the site. This really isn't what I want to do, so any advice would be appreciated.

No, I am talking about the back of the Cam Eye. The part that is inside the helmet opposite from the red button. That part is too bulky and is pushing into my head. Is there a way to reduce the size? I.E. take off the casing and tape over it? I could have sworn I have seen a way to do this on the internet somewhere.

This is the way I have mine mounted. It is in the lower left corner of the raised camera mount on the left side. It is in a fairly natural spot to reach (like touching your ear) and partially protected by the dbox. Hope this helps...

I made a hole the size of the control unit in my helmet and stick that part out the helmet for easy use I also took off a litle bit of padding in that area to perfect fit the unit. If you don't want to make a hole in your helmet just use duck tape to place it outside your helmet and duck tape the cables too that will be the fancy way. I will include pictures later.;)

Cool. Please post some pictures when you get a chance. I also thought about putting the cam eye 2 in the audible indent, but I really would like to use my audible. I just can't stand the thing pushing against my head. Has yours ever gotten snagged or knocked since its been where you put it?

:)When i got the Cam Eye,, I left the cover on the "red button",, buried it inside the helmet,,, and just forgot about it...
No holes to drill,,, no new switch to "learn",,, just a light now,,, near my sight...
I still simply use the control switches which are ON the camcorder,, just like always.....
As suggested remove some padding from inside the helmet if needed....:|

I also used a mirror to check for the light on the camera I first used. It was a smart thing to do. I am also comfortable enough with the controls to where I can do that and just use the cam eye light, but there is really no place to hide the cam eye unit in the helmet. It is a Bonehead Optik and space is pretty limited. I will try removing some padding. Thanks.
