YM4 0 #1 December 2, 2003 This is my new Camera helmet. I wanted to switch from side cam to both on top. It holds a 10D or a 35mm Rebel and any PC, and if I want to brake my neck I can use another PC on the side. ust neet to put the L-braket. Its was kind of a pain to get a perfect allumminum top but got it on the first try after making few cardboard molds. Cant say it works great but it feels comfortable and both cams are dead center. Cant show you the 10D mounted on it cause I needed to take the pictures with it. but it looks Cool. A lot heavier but Cool! By the way, The blow switch will work for 35mm and Digital, just switch the cams. Anyone know about a carbon fiber box to protect the 10D? The other helmet is my new paint job, just need a clear coat and ready for some air. The cam helmet will soon be painted. hope you like it. diablopilot 2 #2 December 3, 2003 Nice work on the camera helmet. I can see a couple issues. 1) flexability. Vetical mount, different cameras, probably not an issue for you, but one of the reasons I like the FTP. 2) Increasing weight and stability with a chin cup. Ask Deuce about this. Love the paint on the other helmet, just stoped going through the trouble myself, as they always seem to get scratched up in about 3 months. Last paint I did on a helmet was a spray can version of the stuff you dip tool handles in. Cool matte finish, and it's only now ready to be painted again, plus I can peal the old stuff off and reshoot it!---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. YM4 0 #3 December 3, 2003 Ive never liked full face helmets, I know there great, but thats just me. First I tried the Digital camera with a stoboframe but it was to high above my head and any movement was deadly for my neck. So I took off the SFrame and left it with a screw. The Digital feels heavier but not a big issue, but the Rebel is like my old helmet, not a problem. About the angle for the cameras, you are right, first I will make few jumps to make sure if it's set OK, Right now with a quick test on the ground and tandem distance it aimed perfectly. The worst thing that can happen is that if I don't like it, I will live the Stils cam. on center top and put the PC on the side like usual. Hopefully, it does works."It's not the size of the dog in the fight, It's the size of the fight in the dog!"

FrancoR 0 #6 December 3, 2003 Just some things a "flight recorder" jumper like me noticed. I can't see a cutaway, do you have one? Can the gap between the cameras be a potential snag point? If it does not cost anything you are the product.
nacmacfeegle 0 #7 December 3, 2003 A cutaway would be useful, some DZs won't let you jump a cam helmet without one. Local rules, and a sense of your own mortality apply. Any hassles with the screen popping open on the PC? or the flash on the SLR? I've seen other peeps (myself included, but I have a bashed up PC that doesn't close properly) using elastic bands to keep the "flaps" shut. Nice work though.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. YM4 0 #8 December 3, 2003 Thanks for the safety factors, but yes I will have a strap around both of the cameras. I wont go out only on two screws."It's not the size of the dog in the fight, It's the size of the fight in the dog!"
