Chivo 0 #1 December 4, 2003 Just curious... when you get the video from the camera into your hard drive, it uses the DV format, which is interlaced. If you intend to burn DVDs of those videos, should you deinterlace the videos or not? ~Chivo
mccordia 74 #2 December 4, 2003 I always de-interlace, because without doing so, it usualy looks quite crappy on TV. The fields realy pop-out with sudden moves (while I don't see them on TV when I play the original DV tape)JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
velo90 0 #3 December 5, 2003 Quote(while I don't see them on TV when I play the original DV tape) Could that be be because you are using the video out from your camaera and not the DV-Link? Oh, and I always deinterlaced when I am creating DVD (SVCD).
sheldond 0 #4 December 5, 2003 To answer your question about interlaced and de-interlaced could be thought of in this matter. What is your intended audience? If it is meant for playing back on TV screens, leave the video interlaced. If you intend to play back the video on a computer monitor, then de-interlace the video. A video signal is comprised of 2 fields. An odd and even field, sometimes known as field A and field B, or Field 1 and Field 2. So that means, for ever single frame of video there are 2 parts of information that makes up that single frame. When you de-interlace, you are removing one of the parts of the video. Or another way to think about it, cutting 50% of the information. So, I would suggest that if you intend to play back the video on DVD, leave the video interlaced. The DVD should look really close to your DV original. If you De-interlace the video, you might not see any difference on your computer monitor, but you will notice a difference on a tv screen. Hope this helps.
AndyMan 7 #5 December 5, 2003 Standard television sets are interlaced devides, so if you're playing back to one, having interlaced video will give the best results. If you're expecting it to be played back to a computer screen, then I'd deinterlace. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
