teamhypoxia 0 #2 December 10, 2003 QuoteThe computer will be a P4 6.6 Ghz You must work for Intel. Can you get me one? Seriously though, I don't think I've ever seen on board video, if indeed that's what you're talking about. Is the card simply a package deal with the mobo? If so, what type is it? dragon2 2 #4 December 10, 2003 There's video cards and there's video cards... One is used to display stuff on your monitor, the other is used to capture video. If you mean the display card, usually what comes onboard is inferior to separate cards, but it may still fit your needs. Depends on the specs (chip, memory, ...). A capture card is always a separate card, unless you mean onboard firewire. If you have firewire and don't need to do realtime editing I don't think a capture card is necessary, but then, I do my editing on a laptop and I don't complain ciel bleu, Saskia
FrancoR 0 #5 December 10, 2003 If you are talking about the display card i would consider a card that can handle two monitors. That way you will have a very large desktop and plenty of room for premiere. If you only edit small projects its probably not worth the money or effort to get this feature. I was told that display cards do not effect the rendering speed in premiere and other applications. If it does not cost anything you are the product. Saskia nailed it there. The firewire on your mobo will do everything a basic IEEE1394 adaptor will do. If you really must have realtime, then get ready to dig deep. If I were you, I'd play about with Premiere until you know whether the 'proper card' is actually what you want. Its easy enough to pop one in later on.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
